Hello CCP, the vets are running out of ships to train. Can we have new ones please ? With really high skill requirements, as a longterm goal for the vets ?

I was thinking about this a few days ago.
Database holds 4 types of Concord Batteships. Put them to use for the four races.
Doesnt need super insane skill req, but should gain bonus from all four races Battleship skills aswell as Marauder skill. eg; You can train for a while for it. ---

Please, No. This is the WoW mentality; "oh, every one's level 60, so lets make a whole new exapnsion for everyone to reach level 70 with new raid armour, etc...". It only serves to further alienate new players, and does nothing for the game. After all, what's the difference between two battleships slugging it out versus two dreadnoughts slugging it out? Sorry, as a relatively new player, I have zero sympathy for EvE vets whining about content, when all the potential and legacy of dynamic content has been all but destroyed by the same EvE vets. Eff you, eff the whole lot of you who want to maintain their eliteness at all costs. If you're bored of the game, retire your character and go play something else. The rest of us want a chance.

Main thought: Rather than just ask for super L33T Ships, I think you should point out roles for them that would justify their skills requirements. Fleet Command ships and Capital Industrial ships are good examples of skill intensive ships that fulfill interesting roles.
Super strong concord BS's would fulfill what exactly? Remember you need to keep some semblance of ship-class balances.

Cross-train racial T2's. It takes over 20 (or is it 30?) years to train all skills to lvl 5. I am personally in the position of not feeling to excited about the skills I feel I have to train, but adding l33t stuff to the game just so you have something to train is dumb.
If you want to suggest a novel ship class for vets to train that is skill intensive and BALANCED, then suggest that.

my opinion, include a wider variety of ships and not more ships in the t3 line of thought where they are solopwnmobiles.
examples: a racial mining cruiser set designed to ninja mercoxit, would include a probe bonus, a mining bonus, and a noncovops cloaking cpu bonus
a racial cruiser set designed as a heavy stealth bomber
a racial cruiser set that goes farther than any of their other ships have in the way of dedicated drone carrier. in order to keep the gallentean version from being able to carry heavies into combat, have it have the same drone bay, but bigger drone bonuses.
a tier three racial battlecruiser set that has t2 logistics versions.
a perviously proposed idea i like has the tier three battleships getting t2 forms that have logi bonuses.
no new capital ships
give the cruddy little mining frigates a t2 version that is designed specificly to carry low volume pricy items with nutty align/warp speeds and covops abilities. the ship would have to move like an interceptor, but only have 50m3 or less cargo, and the covops cloak fitting ability.
some new skills that might be useful to keep the que full in older characters are new hull tanking skills, which up resistances on the hull. this is not an idea to make the hull tanking a viable option, but a method of further ensuring that you've got a better chance of winning even when you've maxed everything else out. i don't want the tank to be ridiculous, with the first skill in this mode only contributing 10% resists across the board when at lvl 5, and the second set (which should take much longer to train) should put the resists around 20%.
another few skills that would be worth training even if you've got something else to train would be skills that reduce planetary structure cpu/pwr reqs or a skill that decreases the drift and depletion of mineral deposits on planets. if only there were such skills.
a skill that would benefit miners without boosting their yeild and making the economy go nuts would be crystal management, which reduces the chance of damage occuring to the crystals. another skill might reduce the damage when it does occur. that could be applied to the high end amarrian laser crystals as well.
how about a skill that increases the performance of locator agents?
maybe we need a skill that enhances damage done to a target not based on what kind of weapon you're using, but what kind of damage is being done? for instance, a pilot could train up his kinetic damage, or his explosive damage.
we could also use a skill that decreases the scan res of guns, so that they can hit smaller sig rads than they could before.
i don't think that any of these ideas are game breaking, though i may be wrong on that. the idea being discussed in this thread is older players running out of things they want to train, and i think my suggestions would keep them busy at least for a few months.

It has been my experiance the the temptation for "Bigger and Better" leads to imbalance in games. There has to be a limit somewhere, there has to be an end or else you will have someone flying a Martian Death Machine at some point.

Only bring in new ships if there's an actual specific requirements for them.
Bigger ships for the sake of bigger ships is pointless and as said, just turns into the wow "I R LVL 80" dullery.
If you can think of some kind of ubermegatrain ship that doesn't just fall into "bigger" and isn't an "I WIN button" then suggest that but "more ships please" is about as useful as going to the doctors and saying "I feel odd"

The Vexor and Arbitrator are already great drone platforms in the t1 range, and the Ishtar is arguably the best drone platform in the game. there's no reason to give every race a drone specific ship.
Similarly, Logistics cruisers already provide battleship sized reps, the next logical step up is capital reps, which are handled by carriers. a battleship or battlecruiser class logi might as well paint "AIM HERE" on the side of their ships, in addition to being completely unneeded.
I do kind of like the idea of a turret scan res skill, considering missiles have a skill for both explosion velocity and radius. That kind of thing might be better handled with bonused ammo. Flak rounds having increased scan res to deal with undersized targets?

confirming that the game already has enough god damn ships, so unless you can think of some role that REALLY needs filling, this really is a pointless topic.

I'm going to have to say YES - more ships is better.
Now having said that I am going to say NO to any ship that is bigger/better than what is in there.
Why not have new ships that require cross training and time as long as they are no better than the ships there already.
Quite frankly the thing I like least about this game is the lack of variety. You see every BS represented 5 times over whenever you have a fleet battle.

I actually sorta support this... with one caveat: Ships must be balanced. I would be for a class of ships, perhaps concord, that require all race BS to 5, and that those ships should have some bonuses for each race skill... but I'm NOT for introducing "God mode" BS. As these are ships directed at vets, they should be a little more complicated to figure out how best to apply those bonuses to your fit. For instance, maybe there could be a bonus to EW functions, but fitting an EW module penalizes some damage bonus the ship would otherwise receive. In the end these ships should balance against faction BS. Maybe it makes sense to apply these principals in in the implementation of T3 BS? However, I stress that every uber ship needs an Achilles Heel that can be exploited for properly fitted noob BS pilot victory... such is the nature of eve ships. ...just thinking out loud.

instead of new ships how about vets retire? Hmmm? You played for 7 years and dominated your space, why don't you make room for someone else greedy?
When you have to ask for a new ship because your SP is full you win eve.

LOL! Oh nubs... wait till you have a ship with all your skills maxed and get jammed and popped by a 6 mo account! There's room at the top for everybody, and by that I mean even a 'noob' can rock like a hurricane (and in some cases IN a Hurricane!) any other player if he 1) is knowledgeable about the game and 2) knows how to fit against his enemy. (side note & tip from me to you: play the players, not the game) The more SP I get the more I realize that... and I'm sure most of the vets playing since beta (which I have not) would agree. It took me six months just to figure out the basics... and to be quite honest I still feel like a perpetual nub in a myriad of ways. In eve, some days you're the cat and some days the mouse... but SP is a much smaller factor than most new players realize. Promise. |

More T3 ships. T3 Mods with insane skill requirements. T3 Weapons with the same. For T3 weapons probably have to train the specialization skill to 5 then a rank 10 or so skill to 5, then the equivalent of a specialization skill (rank 14) to at least 2 to use it.
The "balance" in these things isn't how powerful they are folks, it's in how expensive they are. A command ship will kill its battle-cruiser counterpart every time. You still see folks flying battle-cruisers though, because they are cheaper and more people can fly them, so you get a bigger gang if you call for 'cains than you would if you called for Slepnirs.

i want to fly a caldari drone boat. i don't want to have to train up gallente/amarr and armor tanking just to be able to use my highly developed drone skills in an effective way.
i feel that by making a barge's defenses shield and drones they've locked out industrialists from combat unless they train up many new skills. that was my main motivation for suggesting a racial drone boat. you armor guys may not need one, but us shields do!
