I am interested in getting into manufacturing on both a small scan and hopefully one day a large scale.
I was wondering if i can get some advice on setting up a POS on an alt Acct. " Mirak Nijoba or Akivar Nijoba" Both of them are more of my industrial type Characters and was wondering how hard it would be for them to set up a POS given their noobish Status.
If I could get someone to link me to a guide or a site that will help me to understand where exactly i should be able to launch my pos at then i'll be grateful.
I don't know if I can look into anchoring one in 0.9 sec but i am looking for a place that is close to dodixie that i can anchor it at and not have to worry a whole lot about it getting attacked y other players.
Thanks in advanced. |

Well, it's gonna be harder for your noobish alt to manage the POS without being wardec now that you've revealed their names and the potential location of the POS...
Where exactly you can launch your POS is at any moon's warp-in point as long as you have the correct standings. Here's an excellent guide on POS: Linkage |

If there's one thing I've learned while solo-managing a medium POS for a few weeks (2 toons) is you'll end up praying for a reason to take it down.
A small tower, labs, and assembly arrays will cost you anywhere from 250m to 350m depending on your specific needs. Then another ~80m a month in fuel (whether or not you do PI).
Do you know what your specific needs are? If not then you may want to find a semi-remote system and just manufacture in an NPC station until you gain a bit more experience.
Additionally, If I had spent the time I had used juggling manufacturing jobs on instead marketing (where to sell and at what relative price) I would probably be in the green as much as I am from the assembly time bonus.
In the end I think it's just not worth it in high sec for the headache.
TLDR;
Let other people do your research and just manufacture at an NPC station.

You can't anchor a POS in 1.0-0.8 systems. For 0.7-0.5 you'd need unmodified by skills faction standings, for 0.4-0.0 you don't need standings.
Just head over to the test server, jump into an arbitrary lowsec/nullsec system and try it.

As an addendum to the above, your CORP (as in the one you're in) needs to have the standings towards the controlling faction.

Why do you think you need a POS?
And yes it will be hard, or costly, to do. |

I know it was not your question but - just consider the fact that you do not in any way need a POS to get into manufacturing. It can help in some situations but it is certainly not something that is needed. |

As others have said, make sure a POS will help you make money. They require a decent amount to set up, cost monthly, take time, and have a UI that will make you hate life. That being said if you know how to use one right it can help you make a lot of money.
As for making it safe, that's easy. Even with 2 new characters. Set up at a least a medium tower, with several ECM batteries anchored (not online), and everyone should leave you alone unless you make someone mad. Your goal is not to survive an attack, but make the attacker want to kill the undefended tower a few moons away instead of yours. |
