I was wondering if it was possible to have each ship get its own "notches" for PVP kills. By this, I mean that each individual ship, not type of ship. Sort of like the old warships and the WWII fighter planes, that had kill counts etched or painted on them. Have an option on right click, that says "Open Trophy Record" or something and you can see..
....also when you kill a ship you can collect its trophy record and keep it as a souvenir. |

I think that would be a really cool feature ships could have for AUR
you put a ship in, and some AUR and you get the ship back but now every time youre involved in a kill with that ship, it puts a white icon of the ship you destroyed somewhere on the ship. When you get 5 kills of the same ship type they shrink down to one blue ship icon At 20 kills you get a green icon At 50 kills you get a yellow icon At 100 kills you get a red icon
You would have to make it something that you could turn off but it would be really cool.
I like the idea of being able to "open trophy record" so you could see it on an individual ship even if you have it off by default. |

this idea has come around many times before.
the major issues are as follows:
A) dev time. All this proposal offers is "something cool" I'd rather the devs spend their time fixing the game instead.
B) Database. Most ships and items can exist in two forms. A unique ID form: That is assembled ships and items. These all carry a unique ID in the database. They are individual items. This is why you can't stack assembled items, and why you can't sell assembled items. They all are unique in the database.
and generic ID's: That is repackaged ships and items. These all carry a common ID in the database. They are generic items. They can be stacked, and sold on the market. They are all equivalent.
In order to sell these, they would have to be through contracts or trade windows. As soon as you repackaged it, you would lose the unique ID, and thus, its kills. Further, currently when you load a grid say there's 100 drakes. If they're all the same, your computer can go okay load 100 of x at these coordinates. If they're all unique, its loading many many different models, and has to querry the server for each one.
In short: There's no gameplay here. Its a waste of dev resources, and client resources. |
