It was a group harassing me in high school, all it took was for me to go after one of them and they stopped. I don't know, I wasn't in a position to really do anything about it for a long time, one day I snapped though and that's all it took to end it. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

Id like to offer an alternative view. That young kids like this should be allowed to find out what life is about, without being judged by a million strangers from all over the World. This kind of thing is totally natural and happened all the time at my school. I appreciate that looking at that one clip makes me smile, and I think fair play big kid, but I have big reservations about children not being able to make mistakes in a private social setting anymore and being judged on the Internet. That clip will be around for ever now, and even if that horrible little kid changes and learns, he can never get away from the clip. Thats too much punishment for a child.
I think it should be an offence for children to be filmed in any way and posted on the Internet without parental consent from all parties shown in the video. I wonder how many people would like their most shameful moment posted on the Internet when they were too young to know better?

Apparently before she actually saw the footage she was doing exactly that. Not much room to yell that your son was wrongfully bodyslammed when he was acting the little prick for all to see.

I agree with this to some extent. Kids, and even a lot of adults don't know the internet is forever...whereas before the advent of permanent storage of everyone's every single action, you could get away from some of the not so great moments of your life...

Yeah, thats my take too on the route to web actually. The spineless hangers-on found a new hero. All this stuff is ugly though and children need space and privacy to find themselves. That was my main point. Not sure quite what the answer is, like I said parental consent, but that is easier to say than to enforce.

That's because bullies left little in the way of the physical marks, where I left large bumps on their head when I hit 'em with a chair.

So it is fine to make the 'mistake' to hit someone else in the face because you feel like it, but the real problem is that he asked his friend to film how he hits someone in the face?
But making mistakes is part of being young, right? Watch this: http://www.dumpert.nl/mediabase/1407821/e751c362/casey_spreekt_(interview).html (Dutch site, you might need to press f5 to get rid of commercial, youtube also has it but is like usual being fascists regarding copy right, and the only one they dont delete has been marked as 18+ by the morons). His life is being ruined by bullies, he contemplated suicide (and too many actually do it due to bullies), and if you pay attention you see he really speaks like an adult about it, simply because he had no childhood, it is ruined by the bullies.
In other words, the bullies might grow over their sociopathic behaviour, but the bullied wont forget.

It's really all about survival of of the fittest. Mammals in general, develop a hierachical social pecking order in a group (alphas, betas, gammas .. omegas etc.), humans are no different. How they achieve this depends on their level of sophistication, for humans it's usually both psyhologically and physically.
The best way to avoid bullying is to not portray yourself as an omega - the lowest rank. Bullies (not necessarily made up of alphas or betas) are usually instinctive, they go for the easy targets, which usually ends up with as the poor omegas.
Once you understand the above, impart your children with that knowledge. Make sure they understand that. Now, whether they sink or swim, it's up to them.
On a personal note, I never had issues with bullies. They don't exist. My size may have had something to do with it, but I think more importantly, the personality radiates non-omega characteristics.

After watching that, I now have far more respect for the lad. What a wonderfully articulate young man he is and I hope that all this media attention doesn't turn sour, as so often it can.

It's not always like that, I was picked on merely because I was always the "new kid". K, but then dont whine when they go for Columbine v2.0, and take survival of the fittest to the next level.
You say yourself you have never been bullied, dont act like you have any idea how that is or what you can do about it, you dont.
