You mean more press releases from one of the most corrupt national and international agencies on this planet?
Quote: Where are you getting this information? This FAQ is based on information taken from primary sources: press conferences by the Japanese government and TEPCO as shown on Japanese television, TEPCO press releases, independent documentation about the type of reactor, and statements by the Japanese Nuclear Safety Commission, the Japanese Nuclear and Industry Safety Agency, and the International Atomic Energy Agency.(all of whom effortlessly ignored an older meltdown TEPCO covered up)
Yep, can hardly wait.

If you think that the website you linked is a credible news source you are probably a lot dumber than I thought you were.

Edited by: Bane Necran on 25/03/2011 01:34:47 Ivar is correct. Everything in the linked writeup turned out to be disinfo and lies meant to calm people down, and it's only getting worse.
Gullible goon is Gullible.
The attempt to use sea water instead of hard water was a joke to begin with, and predictably failed. The fact the person who wrote that believed sea water was a suitable replacement for hard water makes me question their alleged credentials.
Optimistic reports are saying 2 reactors will melt down, others (Russia's nuclear chief) are saying 6 might. Either way we're looking at the biggest nuclear disaster in history, it's just a matter of how many times worse.

Edited by: M''ktakh on 25/03/2011 06:38:32 That article, and especially your presentation of it, is very misleading.
First, while Sergei Kiriyenko is indeed the CEO of ROSATOM, he is a businessman and a politican, not a nuclear scientist.
Secondly, as the article writes, even if there would be a total meltdown in all six units (how he wants to melt down units 5 and 6, I dont know), there would still be no nuclear explosion. Hell, TMI had a partial meltdown, and its fine as far as containment goes.
Yes, this is a huge catastrophe, but mostly from an engineering standpoint, not a humanitarian one. The combined doses received by the workers are below the deterministic threshold. Yes, some of them might get cancer. You, posting in the US (I suppose), wont, at least not from this.

I hope you're not suggesting we only have explosions to fear. This isn't a movie.
Meltdowns and the plumes of radiation they release are what you should fear. There's been hundreds of nuclear explosions and none of them even came close to one Chernobyl.

I'm not really complaining about anything. Just taking a stance against the whole "hey, relax, guy" mentality.
Sometimes bad things do happen, and yes, a certain degree of worry is warranted.

I think what causes panic is people dont understand what radiation is, and the difference between alpha and beta particles and gamma rays, x-rays and stuff like that.
But we do need to chill a little bit, going into a big panic never helped things

the media reporting on this is making a storm in a teapot. but acting like this is nothing is also wrong, and that's what many people are trying to say.
Fukujima incident is serious, yes. It requires surveilance and not ****ing up yes.
but people saying that Japan will become a nuclear wasteland because of this or coming up with end of the world scenarios is beyond stupid and is only good to create panic. ---
