Originally by: CCP Explorer Hardlink the secondary install to the primary install, e.g., using the Junction tool from Sysinternals. That saves space but the EVE client sees two different folders and therefore keeps two sets of settings.
This is what I do for TQ, sharing three account (two active) instances just fine. But you really need to look at how those mini-patches get detected & applied (they've gotten better, but still annoying).
However, I also have my installs on a limited-space partition (near the beginning of the disk) for speed. Three full/reference instances are starting to push it a little. [No, I only expected three full copies max, which is more than reasonable I'd think...]
Probably will drop to either just Duc or Sing (probably Duc) unless they match enough to merit a Junction there. That may be lifted later when the next system gets built.

Holy ****! Thanks, for the heads up. I think this should be an app as wellknown to EVE players as EVEmon. At least I like to have seperate settings for each char, I always thought it a bit cumbersome to maintain several TQ clients on my PC while only the settings are different. And I don't even have more than one account.

Why not just run the 1 client twice? Works for me... |

Originally by: Tedric I already maintain two Tranquility installations and one SISI account.
Each account consumes >7GB of space.
Each one has to be updated when a new patch is released.
Keeping SISI updated can be challenge at times (1.3GB DLes released 3 hours before event time). I accept the fact that patches are released out of the blue, that is the nature of SISI.
What I really find frustrating is setting up a new set of ships in the test systems EVERY time a new image is ported over. doing this for SISI is a pain, but doing this for TWO test servers is just to much.
I like the idea, but it is a fail. You are are effectivly creating double the amount of work for us play testers in setting ships up and maintaing installations (this is what turns most players off).
I have enjoyed the incursions testing on SISI in the past, but I will not be doing any on Doucie. I do not have the time or the patience to maintain a second test account.
I predict that you will have a lower turn out than on SISI for events.
tedric.
Pretty much this ^ You want me to have 4 shortcuts now, 1 for main account, 1 for alt account, 1 for sisi and 1 for duality.... hmm I don't think so. I am right on the verge of just deleting the sisi shortcut right now and never bothering with test server(s) again.
Way to over complicate the matter, hope you guys enjoy seeing even LESS players than currently participating in the tests from now on. Did you run this idea past the CSM before implementing btw? Because they could probably have told you themself this was a bad idea.

Rather than making Duality as much like singularity as possible you should be making it as much like Tranquility as possible - then your tests will be relevant to the production servers the game actually runs on.
