Are target painters good for more than just missiles, by blowing up signal dont they make tracking easier for larger slower turrets, also a small fast target being painted by another fast locker would get locked quicker by teammates in larger hulls right? |

Greetings:
Target painters benefit a variety of weapons to due blooming the signature radius of the target. In a fleet, they help every member of the fleet attacking the target being painted.
Thank you.

To answer your questions, all yes.
Missiles will do more damage. Guns will track better. The paint-ee will be locked faster.
TP's are underestimated, very effective. Most people will argue that the mid is better used for other things, Tank, tackle w/e. Just a small correction, TP has nothing to do with tracking per say, as it effects sig radios and thus aids in gun sig resolution.

Edited by: Tsabrock on 15/03/2011 19:08:19 TP's can also help drones hit their targets better (specifically Sentry Drones). I'm unsure if a TP helps more than an Omnidirectional Tracking Link does. I've been meaning to run some tests on this topic since drone damage shows up in logs now, but I've just not had the time nor ambition lately to do so. --- If you've read something I posted and want to contact me, EVE-Mail me, or contact me via EVE Gate. |

Very under-appreciated tool for certain ships, such as SB's. Considering the large explosion sig of torps a good TP with good TP skills(there are 2) makes cruisers cry.
It's also handy for Drakes in C1 WH's and can lead to one less volley per frigate.

There are 4 actually. The 2 you are most likely talking about are cap usage and the skill that increases the Sig radius per lvl. There are 2 more that are ECM skills but they apply to TP's. These are optimal range and falloff of TP.

Yes, they help with tracking by reducing the sig penalty for larger turrets firing at smaller targets.
Quote: also a small fast target being painted by another fast locker would get locked quicker by teammates in larger hulls right?
Not noticeably faster.

With the new tracking formula there is no difference between the two. It's just two factors. Parrots, commence!
