ITT: people who cant read between the lines.
tl;dr: Do some background reading before you assume you know everything about the subject
The OP said in a nutshell, that it should be a movie about EVE. Not specifically about a pod pilot, or even anyone of any particular status or position. Regrettably i lack the creativity needed to write out a script or short story, but i have (unlike some, aparently) grasped the size of the actual eve universe/canon. Consider the thousands of star systems, each with a minimum of 1 planet, and call approximately 20% of them "colonized".
For giggles we'll call the average population on a given planet 1 billion, and the average number of planets in a solar system 8. 20% of say... 16000 (2000 systems x 8 planets) would be 3200 planets that are hypothetically colonized. Factor in 1 billion people per planet, you now have 3,200,000,000,000 possible characters with 16000 possible settings and any struggle imaginable.
Naturally im pulling these numbers out of thin air and they dont account for station and colony populations, nor do they cover the crews and such on ships and gates. But the point remains the same, before you assume that an EVE movie would be :terribad: just because it's automatically about a pod jocky, please get your head out of the clouds and read some of the fiction so you at least have some perspective.

There are a few key points about EVE Fiction which will always stand out in my mind.
1) It's set in a far future of mankind who have settled in a spiral galaxy far away from Earth, who have zero knowledge of how they got there and each race assumes they originated from their respective homeworlds. 2) It consists of 5 Races, 5 Empires and 2 inter-planetary wars Amarr v Minmatar & Caldari v Gallente, and the current timeline is just over 100 years of 'relative peace'. 3) The Jovians are the most advanced race and most conspiracies point to their underhand and controlling influence on the direction of mankind - mostly no reason is given for this. 4) Jovians have slowly released technology, most notably the pod, and no reason is given for this either. 5) Since universal peace was declared and the empires not in competition (minus factional off-shoots), it is the pod pilots who are competing with each other and can literally corrupt the market, fund large scale interplanetary warfare and decide the balance of the null sec environment, which feeds back to high sec. 6) Cloning technology makes pod pilots effectively immortal.
Not only are pod pilots the key to the current political, economic and military landscape - they cannot 'die', and all the while the Jovians are in the shadows, whispering in the dark.
All other topics are redundant, in my most humblest of opinions, as you cannot make a movie about EVE without including the above facts to paint the picture of the fictional universe with which the story is set.
It is all about the pod pilot, because if you make a movie about people who are not pod pilots, you are not making a movie about EVE. I'm going to retract slightly here regarding my other comments and say that it is not impossible, but just very very very hard to create a script for a movie where the main protagonists are ego-centric demi-gods with enough money to buy a planet.
Also, I believe there are only 3 plotlines:
Man v Man (including himself) Man v Machine Man v Nature
Therefore an EVE Film could be any of the following:
Pod pilot v Pod pilot (including himself, AKA, the 'talk to me Goose' syndrome) Pod pilot v technological or psychological threat (AKA, 'beating the system') Pod pilot v horrific spatial anomaly (probably threatening a planet full of innocent people, AKA 'Armageddon')
And if you really put some thought into it you can create a film that has all three:
"It's about a retired veteran pod pilot who returns to save his home planet from obliteration, who has to deal with a system that doesn't want him and his own beliefs"
Probably have the following significant scenes:
Watching a binary sunset Reminiscing with an old friend about the good old days Troubling scene with family members, about how long he has been gone Daring space battle where he saves someone, admidst newer, younger pod pilots who nearly kill him, followed by a scene where he nearly quits but is talked out of it by old friend Face-off with head of political entity, hell bent on him not being allowed anywhere near the problem, because he is a problem, and they don't want or need his help At least two crisis of faith moments Film finishing with him saving the day, re-bonding with family and clearing his name with the political system, who really did need him in the end anyway
Only problem is; we've all seen that film 100 times before, haven't we?

Read the Chronicles, Read the Novels, Watch Clear Skies, see how wrong you are about what fiction about eve can be about.
Wow how can one person get it so wrong. You seem to have very little understanding of eve lore and its history.
Most of eve fiction is not about pod pilots directly, most is about how pod pilots effect the regular person.
Jovians are not the only race that is attempting to influence the 4 main factions. (The Enheduanni, Sansha being the most visible right now, {you canĘt really call them human any more}, Sleepers ą)
Somehow you missed a little dust up where the Minmatar Elders attacked concord and then attacked the Amarr empire, and Caldari flew a Titan and it is still parked in Gallente Space.

I don't even own a copy, if you're referring to the book. I still haven't read the 4 books given to me at christmas.
I'll get to it when I get to it, but since you are well versed in the book, why don't you make a head start on an adaptation?

We need some way to really get into the hardcore Science Fiction fan-base, and A movie I think would be the best way. And not with just YOUTUBE videos either . A movie that makes it to every theater and one that is well budgeted and directed. CCP is known for it's great creativity and we all know it would be an awesome movie. PLEASE CCP!!
CCP is busy running a game atm and I'd prefer they stuck to that.

Do't need that much. Decent space flicks were made for less (e.g. Star Wreck)
Try crowdsourcing at sites like indiegogo, flattr, etc, and collaborative production via Wreckamovie (Iron Sky, Snowblind, Sauna).

There is no way they can make a movie that can encompass the coolness of eve. What ever movie they do make would blow balls. I mean that movie would be so bad, that it would go past so bad it's funny like Evil Dead, or Rocky Horror into the realm of this stinks so bad, instead of a movie it should have been a straight to dvd release. ------------------------------------------------- "Vae Victis" -Brennus |
