I lost another navy vexor last night, while doing the final stage of Terrorist Plot escalation.
It's not often i get attacked while doing the low sec stage of escalations, but when it happens it seems like it's impossible to avoid the loss of my ship. I have close to no pvp experince, so i'm mostly inclined to just abort the mission and save my ship. Still i've not been successful in getting into warp before my warp drive has been disrupted, and that always seem to be followed by my ship blowing up soon after.
My current strategy is to use a full pve fit, and just try to complete the missions as fast as i can, and hope no one finds me before i've looted the rewards.
My current setup is this: [Vexor Navy Issue, Exploration Setup] 1x Domination Medium Armor Repairer 2x Dark Blood Armor Kinetic Hardener 1x Dark Blood Armor Thermic Hardener 1x Damage Control II 1x Beta Reactor Control: Capacitor Power Relay I
1x Domination 10MN Afterburner 1x Codebreaker I 1x Cap Recharger II
1x Core Probe Launcher I, Sisters Core Scanner Probe I 3x Dread Guristas 250mm Railgun, Antimatter Charge M 1x Drone Link Augmentor I
2x Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I 1x Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II
Would it be a good idea to replace one kinetic hardener with a warp core stabilizer?. My experince seem to be that the odds of winning the fight is always against me, i lack the pvp skills and it always seems to be one or two players and alot of rats shooting at me at the same time, so i'm basically just looking for something that make is possible for me to warp away. Would a warp core stabilizer make it possible for me to warp away no matter what the enemy uses to disrupt my warp drive?
Is using the warp core stabilizer just a bad idea, and is there something else i should do?

Edited by: Tarasina on 16/03/2011 12:17:53 Forget the warp core stab.
Check D-scan every 2 seconds. If a ship shows up, align to a safe or whatever...then if you see em on overview, just warp. Since you are aligned, you warp off immediately. Then you can just keep warping between safespots til they give up.
That or get unscannable T3 (for escalations, you can't be scanned out).
Hehe, a Brutix followed me once to a site...he warped in, I warped out. A bit later I warp back to the site...his wreck is there. NPCs got him

navy vexor is a gank bait and with faction fit it's also a big loss isk for you. There are 2 approaches basically: 1) Switch to unscannable/cloaky T3 ship and do your stuff in lowsec with nobody being able to stop you(expensive but effective) 2) Switch to T2 fit myrm and many pirates wouldn't even bother scanning you down. And if or rather 'when' you lose it it's no big deal, just get another one. |

Any faction ship gets people's attention on a dscan.
Don't bother trying to fight with a PVE fit. If you're not in a Drake then losing the ship is virtually guaranteed regardless of what tackles you. If you do get tackled and you're going to die then overheat everything and let it melt
WCS are generally only a valid option for travel.
Keep aligned, deal with scramming rats first. Work out how far your PVE instance is from anything and set dscan to a bit less than that range. Any players ship shows on dscan then gtfo.
Better to find out stuff about PvP though - I think Ripard teg is still running some free "seminars". Given he's ex-Agony the material will be probably be spot-on for PvP-Basics.

hang out and watch local for a bit get a feel for who's there. Patience is key, sacrifice a high slot for a cloaking device and just warp off to a moon or something and cloak if someone that looks suspicious to you enters local. Most people will get bored of looking for you after a short time and move on as soon as it seems clear warp inn and do your thing.
Use your scanner and try to see what people are up to combat scan probes coming up on scan is a good sign to sit tight and wait while cloaked

Edited by: Florence Cesaille on 16/03/2011 15:19:31 You know...cheap is underrated in this game.
Fit out a T1 ship with cheap T1 modules and use a clone with no implants and insure that puppy to the max.
Then who cares? :)

Along with the Dscan and stay aligned tips, get as far from the mission entry point as possible. All the escalations I've been on are entered via an acceleration gate. If you can stay 30+ km away from the entry that will also give you a bit more time to GTFO before you they get you.

though drone boats are nice, for escalations i usually prefer something that just does a lot of damage. you only care about the faction spawn or to get the next escalation. find the faction spawn or whatever will trigger the next escalation (or the end guy giving loot), shoot him, take stuff, get out. remember that in escalation sites people need combat scan probes to find you, so keep pushing dscan see if there are any out there.
and yea...a navy vex. shiny stuff always gets hunted.

Scan for probes, watch local, stay aligned out, dont fly what you cant afford to lose. I don't know the escalation in question but if there is a gate make sure you get as far from the warp in as possible. Leave a can on the warp in to decloak anything that comes in. Kill any scrambling rats immediately.
If you are aligned it is actually impossible for them to catch you, but don't warp to a celestial at 0 or 100 or you will get caught there instead. A stab might save you from a lone enemy, but not from a group, nor from a hic/scramblzu.

Your only issue for this particular escalations should be the getting to it, and from it. i.e. the gates. Fly something you know you'll be able to get through the gates - cloaky/fast, whatever.
The escalation itself can be completed in like 5 minutes tops. (At least, the Guristas version can) jump in, AB away (over 500m/s is adequate). Shoot the tower once. Keep flying away and shoot the elite frigs (if you want, but safer to). Then when the Guristas destroyer MWD after you and you're far enough away from the others, turn, and pop him, rush to wreck, look, and warp out (or get range on the elite frigs that will scram you).
That's it... quite and easy. Good luck and hope you get a nice booster - my last two gave jack sh*t...
