Hello Everians!! (LOL i bet some of you got disgusted with everians). After 1 month of EVE and starting to be restrained by skill training times I decided to do something else while playing the game. I was running my pod back to a station and got a Reaper like it normally happens.
Ok I left station with the reaper and thought "who came up with this idea of a ship?". Then I started paying more attention to other ships and came up to a conclusion: EVE ship designer has a strange taste. So much talking, lets get down to business, the monstruosities of EVE. Starting with the Minmatar Ships, the Africans of EVE.
(Images can be found on google fast)
1) Reaper
OK. What is this? An insect? A ship created by Dr. Frankenstein? A ship created by a kid that doesn't know how to mount stuff with LEGO?
The Reaper is also know as Death. That lovely figure of a skeleton with its black robe and a scythe ready to claim our lives when its time.
But what does the Reaper ship has in common with Death? Hmm is it a dangerous ship that can insta kill anyone? In my opinion the Reaper in EVE is some sort of origami mixed with LEGO that went bad or was created by someone like Ed Gein.
From 0-10 I can give this ship a nice 0. Its ugly beyond limits, its weak and doesnt deserve the name of the Reaper. More like ****d.
2) Burst
Less psychotic build than the Reaper but still bizarre. The triangle plates are somehow adored by EVE Devs, but they are put in strange places one to the front right looking nice, the front left smaller and not aligned, the rear right looks smashed in the middle and the rear left looks like an ear with an appendix that looks like a tooth.
Another invention from Dr. Frankenstein that's for sure. 0.5/10 just for the fact that it looks ugly as hell but doesn't look like an origami and the name is almost right. Bust.
3) Rifter
Finally one good looking ship. Yea. This one is clearly inspired on a X-Wing Fighter from Star Wars and it looks nice as a fast combat frigate. Of course it has the "EVE touch" which means two front heads, but that compared o Burst and Reaper is nothing.
9/10
4) Breacher
Another fragile-looking insect ship said to combat rats at 1.0 space. It looks like an UHF TV Antenna from the 60's-70's. Hard to give it a grade.... hmmm I miss those antennas with nintendo games so 1.0/10
5) Probe
This one, said to be a scout ship, looks it took more than 5 minutes to design. Looks much more complex than other ships at its class and while still suffering from the insect look with Frankenstein attached right wing it can be seen as something decent to look at.
5.5/10
6) Slasher
If you played Starcraft with the Zerg you know where this ship comes from. Yea that first attack flying unit I forgot the name. Its like that thing meeting Transformers. Doesn't look bad, but very fragile, not the kind of ship I would feel proud to fly.
4.5/10
7) Vigil
Despite it being a T1 frigate and being or not effective its all about looks here. And this ship looks cool. Looks like a Lobster with its claws well designed and in the same shape and size on each side. An evil Lobster?
8.5/10

8) Thrasher
Ahh my lovely Thrasher.... This with Rifter were my first two ships for level 1 and some level 2 missions. The Trasher looks like a Space Train and though it doesnt have wings (it has 3 solar panels each side, very cool) Its looks like a ship of destruction like its class says.
8.5/10
9)Scythe
It doesn't look like a Scythe at all. It looks like a kids water gun. Just imagine the lower wing as a water compartment.
4/10
10) Bellicose
Honestly I don't know how to describe this ship. It looks like some Rorschach Psychology Test Image. Its a gun inside a H.
????/10
11) Stabber
Wow! A Ship that really looks like after its Name. Whoever designed this ship deserves a round of applause. The ship looks like a stabbing dagger or whatever, looks nice for its name.
9.0/10
12) Rupture
And when I thought things were getting better we go back to WTF ships. Is this a paint gun? Is it Texas? or United States+ Mexico?
??????/10
13) Loki
Despite its capabilities this ship looks strong and impressive. I would feel a badass flying one of these.
9.5/10
14) Cyclone
Looks like a Maul in Space or an Alien Ship from a cartoon i forgot. Mixed feelings about it.
6.0/10
15) Hurricane
AHHHHHHHHH this one is marvelous. Looks like a Smaller Star Destroyer from Star Wars. I love this ship and I'm training for it.
11/10
16) Claymore
I thought after almost 20 years of MMORPG and D&D that a Claymore would be a Long Sword. So this ship goes into the WTF category.
?????/10
17) Sleipnir
Might be big and frightening but it surely comes from Dr. Frankenstein lab.
1/10
18) Maelstrom
Looks big and impressive, looks like a shark looking for its prey. Girls would have problem to park these while shopping.
9.0/10
19) Tempest
A mix of that origami ship with a rifter?
3.5/10
20) Typhoon
The Can with pencils. Nothing else to be said or sad.
3.0/10
Ill keep going with other ships later the rank will be settled in the end.

This is based on looks not power, if you read the title and came in looking for rank on power, you are ****** and should quit the internet right away. This is also an opinion and its open for discussions. Offenses though will be reported.
Civilized comments are always welcome being positive or negative, but keep it civil.

WTF. Two big front ends and the tiniest cabin ever. Not to mention how cartoony it is especially after you've got a huge turret on the top of the main part. Ugliest of the main combat frigs, IMO. Maybe Incursus is a little uglier.

Edited by: Millia Severasse on 19/03/2011 19:36:56 Caldari hulls are an ugly lot aswell.
If you wanna talk about cartoon bull****, you need to at least link a screenie of a new scorpion model. Definitely borrowed some art from the WoW team there.

Actually I would never expect to encounter anything looking like that, by the way few ships in game have the look we could expect from space ships.

You sir, are a disgrace to Minmatar race. The ships you stated as "ugly" are epitome of what minmatar ships should look like. For nicer curves and more "space opera" touch, feel free to fly weak amarr or gallente ships.
One other note: The lately released abominations like Hurricane or Maelstorm are a disgrace to Minmatar engineering. I suspect some caldari spies have bribed our engineers into making those ships look less minmatar.

So the burst and reaper are a random assembly of scrap metals, but the tempest is a decent-looking ship ?
Please contract me some of the same stuff you're smoking...
