Was wondering how effective a gang of EAF's could be. Say eight pilots total. Two of each ship.
Leave the pointing up the Kere's. Load the Kitsune with only ECM/upgrades + MWD. Hyena two webs + painter + MWD. Sentinel neuts + TD's + MWD.
Every one with Autocannons/Rockets (long range is tough especially with DPS lacking already).
Every one hold drones in there cargo for the Sentinel/Kere's.
Running in to a bit of a wall with out having any experience with these. Let alone gang experience. But I figured with how much this gang could lock down one to two opponents that it _could_ work.
Halp?
Advice?

The problem with Electronic attack frigates is that they're frigates. They pop when the wind blows, and their dps is marginal at best.
8 pilots would be MUCH more dangerous in 8 battlecruisers which you could fit for only a marginal increase in cost, especially after you take insurance into account. Or, ignoring price, recons, which are like EAFs only viable.

Your 8 EAFs will catch more small stuff than the 8 BCs. So your 8 EAFs may be the better choice.
You may want some supplemental dps to finish them off, but whoever you're up against won't be able to hit you very well.

i have seen EAF's complement wolf pack fleets before to great effect esp kitsunes and keres not seen much use of the other two. I think a fleet that uses all of any 1 type of ship is always going to have serious weaknesses instead look to how you can use EAF's to complement a more Balanced gang say 4 BC or cruisers if u wanted to be more agile 2 EAF with a septers/dictors or recons or ofc logi thown in depending on what you have availible and need.
Hope this helps.

It does as I'm sure we'll grow tired of not having enough dps to break a basic tank and or dieing a lot.

2 x Kitsune 6 x Thrasher
The Thrashers should be a mix of Arti's & AC's also mixing points and EW mid slots. Example the AC Thrashers should be scram fit with webs and the Arti fits should go 24km point and maybe sensor booster in the mid.
This is a much more effective gang at a fraction of the cast that can take on just about any range of ships. The gang really depends on the ECM ships as the Thrashers are paper dragons, so make sure your EW guys are spec'd well.

I'v only flown the kitsune and I can say that its a great support frigate, it does pop when the wind blows and its dps is crap..but its a great ecm boat. I like the thrasher fleet idea.

The dessie idea doesn't sound too bad. One of my few worries is drones. So Kitsune is pretty much needed.

SENTINEL/KITSUNE BLOB!!!!!!
Drones are the reason I suggest splitting the Thrashers with both Arti/A/C's.
3 x Arti Thrashers with sensor boosters will make very fast work of drones from any target and the close range A/C fit thrashers can be doing DPS on the actual target ship in the mean time.
If you are working as a gang each member should be doing it's part and not whoring on every KM. This is what most people fail to realize and why so many large gangs fail to smaller well disciplined gangs.
As for the guy whom was worried about ECM.. well it's a fact of life, and you can get out ECM'd while flying in any gang.
As for the Sentinel, it's a good ship and I fly it solo from time to time, but the DPS is pathetic and it's worth vs a extra Thrasher's DPS is questionable. If you are using the Kitsune's well, then you will have no need for the tracking disruptors and only benefit would be the neuting power against active tanked ships.
Keep in mind the 3 A/C fit Thrashers can easily fit small neuts with 200mm A/C's & a 400 plate & triple tri's. This means they are a "decent" tank and have their own ew/cap warfare abilities.
Added to this the DPS from 6 thrasher isn't anything to laugh off, because they can quickly melt any cruiser hull and with ECM on the field probably any BC or BS as well. (of course some active tanked set ups might cause issues like say a Myrm for example but even with a sentinel it would still be rough)

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 20/03/2011 19:10:39 You WANT range with the EAFs, and MWDs are a must. You can't count on the Kitsunes permajamming multiple simultaneous targets, so any EAFs stuck at autocannon/rocket range are going to get shot to bits. Sentinels and Hyenas both operate at ranges under 20km unless you're packing faction neuts/webs, but Sentinel DPS is the same as long as you're in drone range, and the Hyena is cap stable with pulse lasers, MWD, and two webs all running. With Scorch and some tracking enhancers it can hit out to nearly the max range of the webs. Keres has abysmal DPS no matter how you fit it.
The mixed EAF gang dismantles opponents systematically while keeping them capped out, jammed, webbed, and scrammed. One or even two parts of this system can fail temporarily and the EAFs can still win the fight, but only if they avoid damage via range. IMO.

Wolf pack, cheap edition, aka more bang for your buck: 2 x Griffin 2 x Vigil with a TD+scram in the mids 8+ x Thrasher MSE, AC fit for max deeps.

2x kitsune 2x sentinel 2x hyena 2x dps bomebrs
or if u wanna go really EAF only ... ad one Seboed Keres and one sentinel
But for wolfpacks is sentinel and kitsune one of the best support ships. RECRUITING |

EAFs are a great compliment to AF wolf packs; although they need a buff, they're a nice trick to have up your sleeve in a frigate gang.
