Originally by: X'orena You know I think the problem is the first 2-3 sesons always suks. By the 4th thru 6th is when the characters really start to develop. For me DS9 was hard to get into. Just didnt feel ST, you know more or less always on one station. I'd give it a try if they ran it in sequence and put it an hour before I went to bed every night .
DS9 is worth sticking with, honestly.
Seasons 4-7 are, a few dodgy episodes aside, pretty good. Towards the end, it even becomes compulsive viewing. But as it's a continuing story (kinda), you'll get the best out of it if you follow it from the start. But you can just as easily jump in at 'Way of the Warrior' (season 4 opener) and enjoy it.
DS9 is far and away the best Trek ever made IMO.

best startrek was at then end of DS9 with the Dominion war. great tv. If you want story watch babylon 5 from first episode to last. that was a schooling session for all other sci-fi story's.

Edited by: TheKiller8 on 22/02/2005 16:31:07 I could verbally explain what went through me at the time when I heard this news but I'd rather express it visually so that's why I took a strip from my favorite webcomic and edited it a bit.

I'm not a trekkie or anything, just a fan of sci-fi, and I really enjoyed that show.

Edited by: Noldo on 02/03/2005 18:33:07 I figured I should probably give everyone an update. As some of you probably know there is an ongoing effort to raise money to produce a fifth season of Enterprise. Yesterday, they made a huge announcement that some anonymous donors had donated $3 million to the cause. Here's a link to the press release. If you can spare the money please donate.

I think its an outrage that utter rubbish like Andromeda has carried on airing without a single hiccup whereas anything half decent seems to get cancelled after two or three seasons, with a few notable exceptions.
Um...slightly off topic. Carry on. ----------------------------------------------- "My name? Well, what can I say. Even under the oppressive regime of Amarr slavers my parents managed to keep a healthy sense of humour." |

I thought Enterprise could have changed the face of Star Trek. Time travel is a laughable topic that is pure speculative AT BEST but it gave them a engine to rewrite all the things they F***ed with in TNG, DS9, and Voyager.
I love Trek but it they always topped themselves and couldn't get the next best thing right.
Best Enemy : Borg -> ass got kicked whats next? Best Annoyance : The Q -> lets just pity them for being supreme Best Rival : Klingon -> lets adopt them into our communistic caste system Best threat : Romulan -> lets waste this development on Nemesis
I mean really... whats next? They have done just about all they can do with what they created w/ TNG. Enterprise was a way out. It was also had good acting and a smallish crew that developed into something more than voyager as the weight of the future of mankind depended on those few to kick ass. Its a real shame its getting canceled. I hated it at first but a Trekkie buddy of mine forced me to watch a few of season 2 and I got hooked. If you don't like the show... watch some reruns and give it another try like I did. You might just eat your words some day haters. -------------------- The Nest

Last I heard they figured they would need around $32 million for the entire season. However, if you look around the forums over at TrekUnitedyou'll see that there are more companies considering a pledge to save the show. And rumor has it they are very big companies. |

Big thankyou on the heads up Noldo. I sure hope they do fund a 5th season, as it is pretty crappy that Star Wars EP I and II have limited edition lunch boxes and Enterprise has to beg for a brown bag lunch. -------------------- The Nest

I cancelled Enterprise ... why? Because it didn't meet up to my expectations. As you are all living in my reality bubble - you will have to adapt and deal with it.
The replacement program I have scheduled is 'Making bread the old fashioned way' - a series of informative programs designed to educate the viewer on the techniques of bread manufacturing throughout the ages. Episode 1 covers 'soda bread'.

Figured I give an update, because there have been some very positive things happening. First off TrekUnited.com is now in discussions with Paramount. Here is a link to announcement: http://www.trekunited.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1367
In another update today SpikeTV has come forward and stated that they do have interest in picking up Enterprise. The article can be found here: http://theedge.bostonherald.com/tvNews/view.bg?articleid=71459
So there is hope now

What i saw of Enterprise sucked. DS9 Remains the darkest and best Trek yet.
Of the new stuff Battlestar is awesome and must be continued. Stargate Atlantis has lots of potential, especially looking at the pile of steaming poo the last SG1 series hads been. Though elements of the Farscape cast joining SG1 for the next season means it could be good.

Yet another update on the status of the Save Enterprise campaign. They announced yesterday that the break down of the sets is now on hold until further notice. Also, it sounds like they are getting ready to shop it to other networks to see if they would pick it up. You can find the article here. The fans are making a huge difference and are making history in the process. Keep fighting and we will win! |
