There better be graphs. It wouldn't be a CCP Tech blog without alot of graphs.
Also as others have said it does sound like a prototype server. If so isn't that quite risky to run on a live server. Or will it just be used as backup for reinforcing nodes.
I think there were lots of graphs in my last Dev Blog... you still need more?
The server is not a prototype/one-off. It is a production system from IBM and Intel but is a very special use case. From what I am told/can talk about... it looks like it was designed to work for high performance transaction on trading floors.

So it's the 64 core, 128 Threads, 16 ram slots / cpu slot and quickpath links, children eating beast, i am having wet dreams of..... SWEET!

Cores and RAM don't really help fleet fights.... so not.. that is great for the DB... but what we are doing for the flight fight server is a tad different.

Wondering if liquid nitrogen cooling may figure somewhere in this.
I'd be guessing that in essence it will be some kind of monstrous over clock, featuring a huge cache as well.

I got a very good idea fleet fights on dedicated nodes will change significantly when we put the new server in place :)

I got a very good idea fleet fights wouldnt need dedicated nodes at all if the server code was multi threaded and solar systems scaled beyond one core :)

The server should be named Theodore Roosevelt. We can call it Teddy when we want to be affectionate with it. The smarter ones among us will always remember not to tangle with a Bull Moose.
Theodore Roosevelt; always badass, all the time.
