I only have a single account. I have three chars on it including this one (not my main)
As you can only train one char at a time I have never trained either of the two up past noob level.
With this restriction in place (which I don't disagree with) I can't see much point of them other than for scamming or other activities you might want to engage in but not on your main.
Am I missing something?

a lot of people use them as market "scouts"
others have a specialized science/ind char based in a certain area and a combat char which is free to move around.

But how do you get their skills to a useful level?
My main only has about 15million SPs and I can't really sacrifice training time to buff up an alt to a useable level.

Edited by: Asuka Solo on 28/03/2011 15:05:22 I have multiple accounts. Each account has a main toon and 2 alts.
Once you figure out that some passive isk generation mechanisms in this game don't actually require you to be online to make isk... you'll start seeing the benefit of having them around, even if you can't train or play with them at the same time. Alt SP levels don't have to be as high as a main toon's. Most of my alts have less than 3 mil SP. My mains all have 40 mil SP or will in a few months.
Think. Work smarter, not harder.

You can, but you're choosing not to. Don't confuse the two.
Another way to do it is to spend ISK to buy a character that has the skills you want from the character bazaar. People sell specifically skilled alt toons all the time. Or you can post a WTB thread and see if someone has one for with the skills you're looking for. --Vel

I have one that I created with Probing Skills and POS Gunnary Skills to use in Wormholes if I ever setup my own POS.
Leave the alt camped in a WH with the ability to scan an enterance hole if my main ever gets locked out of a WH I am occupying.
Plenty of reasons for having one. ------------------------ Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager / Explorer / SpaceBum "I've got a couple of Strippers on my ship... and they just love to dance!" ------------------------ |

Pirates use them to circumvent penalties incurred with their mains.
