When a POS is set to "Use Alliance Settings" and "Attack if aggression", why the hell does it let a fleet of enemy kill 2 carriers outside the POS, ignoring the aggression ( over 4 bil lost there ) And then a month later it opens fire on a Jump Freighter Pilot who is +10 ( it don't get any bluer folks, 5 Billion isk loss here ) ? Did the JF cause aggression or something ? Oh wait, it has no weapons and can't lock anything anyway.
I'm waiting for the standard CCP reply "So sorry it sucks to be you" At which time I'll cancel all 4 of my subscriptions. After almost 8 years in the game, I'm tired of my ships randomly flying off into space at critical times, POSes that seem to do whatever will cost you the most isk and most of all retro nerfs. If you want kill isk in the game try doing something that doesn't make previous purchases worthless.
It's gonna suck to walk away from all my friends in game, but I can't take any more of this crap.

You should have probably tested the pos mechanics before jumping in 10bill. You are right about one thing thought, it does suck to be you. á á

Next time try reading the post thoroughly before opening your pie hole. The POS was set correctly, the settings had been gone over by no less three veteran POS operators and yet it still failed to act correctly. It's known that the POS code has issues. And finally, perhaps it does suck to be me, but at least I'm not you.

You can say it was set correctly, but there are a lot of settings on the pos that will get you shot and all it takes is for one of them to get set wrong and your gonna die.
Your going to get trolled for this, i have no idea why you brought this to the forums.
Last, everyone knows that the only near 100% guarantee that you have with being safe in a pos is to be in the alliance/corp that owns it. After 8 years in the game you should know better, and YOU know it. -------------------------------------------------

If your POS is in a bad mood It'll shoot anyone who comes near. Perhaps sacrifice some exotic dancers and hope the blood appeases it? But in all seriousness, POSes have always been screwy. You'd think after 8 years you'd know that.

1. Only corp standing matters to a control tower, so making an individual +10 is useless. You have to make their corp +10 which is usually not what you want. This kills a lot of ships. 2. Any outpost/pos set to use alliance standings will ignore all corporation standings. 3. Attack if aggression flagged to your corp (15 minutes).
I've dropped containers, shot at them with POS, which flagged the container dropper, so the POS then shot at him for the duration of the flag. I didn't have the aggression box checked, so I figure it is an undocumented mechanism of some sort (others might call it a bug).

Well obviously it wasn't set correctly, unless you didn't want those jf's anyway.
See above and then have a word with your 'veterans' á á

I think (c/d?) if you set to Attack if Aggression, it won't shoot at reds unless they aggress the tower or its anchored weapons. Thus, it did not shoot at the reds attacking your pilot.
And for the blue, I agree with the psoter above. If the +10 in question did not get its standings from alliance, then they don't apply.
Recommendation: confirm the standings. If in doubt, go to SiSi and erect a test tower. If still in doubt, petition.

As a general rule of thumb, I would recommend waiting a week or so after any patches before warping anything not in the POS-owning corp. up to the POS. On more the one occasion, I have seen a POS toast blues shortly after a patch.
I am not sure if your case happened right after a patch. But, figured I should throw it out there.

The POS code is notoriously weird. I have had a tower behave perfectly fine for months and then, one day, just decide to go completely whacko and shoot everything it could target. +10s, members of the owning corporation, no aggression, etc. It just came alive and hated everything around it. When downtime came and went the tower was asleep again, everything was normal.
Good luck with your petition, sometimes the GMs will reimburse your stuff, sometimes not. It seems pretty random, just like the POS code.

Rules of poses 1. Always incap the guns when killing one, because theirs a 90% chance after the tower blows, the guns still attack you 2. NEVER go near a tower after a patch downtime, theres a 140% on them going on a blue killing rampage.

It's the very old, very annoying jump bug where you jump in and no standings are applied. To the pos you where some random Nuet asking for it.

For the 2 carriers that died... it may have been set up correctly, and the hostile fleet was able to tank the POS's guns.

Ah... there's a combination I didn't think of that could indeed do exactly as OP stated.
In that case, wouldn't it reduce CCP's workload if they fixed the damn code? An ounce of prevention...
For those who haven't experienced it, (it's most prevalent in large fleet fights where many ships are warping around entering/exiting system) this bug simply results in blues not getting their standings applied, and appearing as neutral on overview. For players with brains and decision making ability, it's not a big deal as you can simply click on the ship and toon to find out the character's standing.
But for client operated POSes that can't do those things, they see the ship as neutral and if your settings are right, pew pew!
I've also seen reds show up on my blue overview as neutral. But never seen reds as blue, or vice versa. Seems standings sometimes simply don't get applied.
