I was just thinking today that I pay for 3 accounts that I mainly skill up without playing much.
I play STO with far more frequency than I play eve-online. I'm looking forward to Star Wars the Old Republic (or whatever the MMO's called) far more and with more excitement than running around in stations.
I guess that what I'm asking, is what have the devs done for PVE'rs and carebears lately? Why shouldn't I give my BPO's and my POS to my friends and let them play?
What do y'all think?

I think you should take a break for a few months until you start missing it. Keep at least 1x PLEX reverse-redeemed on each account. Don't give out everything, find a way to just loan it out, in case you come back. If you never end up missing it... well... no loss, eh ?

I think Incursions are real good PvE, especially catered towards group efforts similar to those other crap MMO grindfests. Of course they have their own EvE touch to them, meaning someone else can do better than you and keep the crap, and they are pretty challenging.
If that isn't to your liking, then I'm not sure what brought you to EvE in the first place.

I haven't done anything but skill up for 3 months. I miss my corp friends, but I don't really miss the game.

What are you talking about? Hopefully, you're not talking about new headshots. If you're talking about Sanshas, it seems to be a bit like wormhole space without having to find the wormholes.

After a few years of playing any game, that's how many people end up feeling like. No game is immune. Multi-account users burn out faster too. Take a complete break for a few months, maybe even half a year or so, don't even check the forums. Then reactivate just one of the accounts afterwards for a month. If you still don't feel like you'd miss the game after that month is over, better just quit altogether. _

I'm kind of there already. I've put up a POS of my own that I've wanted for quite a while. My mains can up the ME/PE on all the BPO's they own.

No, not really my fault. I've lived in 0.0 and I've lived in a class 3 wh. I've roamed and ganked some (my mains have). It all comes down to I like to mine and build (and sell) things, but I don't want to put up with the hassle of low/null sec.
I might go can flipping if I'm bored or build out a gank Osprey for other can flippers.
What I'd really like is to have some high sec L5 agents for better datacore and drops. I'm just not having fun in null/low sec.

I'm kind of thinking in the same vein. A lot of what I see CCP doing is for the PVP people. I'm just not interested in PVP all the time. I actually enjoy large mining ops whilst drinking gin and watching movies.
I think I read somewhere that high sec has something like twice more people that low and null sec combined; however, it seems that most new things are for PVPers.
CCP sang HTFU to me, but I think it's time they take a bitter pill and understand that most of their player base doesn't want to PVP like CCP seems to want us doing.

Where the heck do people keep getting that most new stuff is for PvPers?
Last expansions, we got PI (I guess thats market PvP???) and incursions. Next we are getting Incarna with walking in stations.
However, my suggestion is, simply cancel subscriptions, wait for the next expansion (and next deal on subs), or 2 expansions if you really want to, and then try it again.

There is more than enough PVE material in EVE currently and some of them do risk getting your ship blown up.
If you are too afraid to risk anything, it is you who is limiting your gameplay not CCP.
Although I think mining can be changed to be more interesting, CCP has been/is developing a lot of PVE stuff such as developing the missing DED plexes, incursions, sleeper sites and PI.
Seriously, its the PVPer who should complain.
The more recent expansions all focus primarily on PVE content.

I have 5 accounts. This is the only active one right now. Its a pure miner char and I play all of 10 hrs a week if that.
To be blunt, go. Not the hatefull, dont let the door smack you in the ass, haz your stuff, cliche trash you get from trolls. Just a point of fact. I don't want CCP to murder thier game to satisfy my need to keep my main safe. I sure would like them to make it an option but the game is PvP. EvE is a PvP game. If that's not your style, go. I do and will. I come back and stay around with miner chars to see what is happening. Maybe one day EvE will be what i expect it to be. I never want it to be a PvE game though.
Go play a PvE game. There are lots. |

PI will give anyone carpal tunnel - noone wins there. And, everyone got incursions. As for walking in stations, who cares? One of the reasons I quit WoW was that I had to run around to do anything.
What I'm trying to find out is why should I stay? To me, it seems the game is centered on PVP. Are any mining updates coming? Rorq's in HS?
Sansha's are just the same PVE except that they come and attack you instead.
Are we getting L5 agents? Faster grind on faction / sec status for high sec? Will Concord be sponsoring mining missions into null for the minerals they need for ships? Again, what's coming our way?

Like I said already, you shouldn't. It's a game, it's supposed to be entertaining. It's not a matter of absolute truths, it's a matter of taste. If you don't find it entertaining anymore, quit it. If a later expansion brings something you like, come back. It's as simple as that. _

Thanks. That was well reasoned and spoken. I don't want CCP to murder their game either. I've played for 5ish years, and I'm getting tired of the all pvp mindset that seems to be this game's dev mantra.
Yes, some PVE content is out, but if I want the 'best' stuff eve has to offer, I have to venture out into low/null, slog my way through different alliances territory to play. I just don't think I should have to go through alliance territory where NBKOS rules just to play the game.
I just want access to all the content the game has to offer. I don't mind pvp sometimes; I would like access to other content - that I pay for but can't always reach.

Lol, from what you wrote you want, concord in the more lucrative null/low sec space, and have capital ships in highsec. And Incursions are PVE content what do you mean its for everyone?
Also, L5 missions still exist in low sec and there are people doing them making money. If you don't want to spam d-scan and watch local while doing missions, too bad. You are stuck in high sec with less payout until you grow some balls.
I don't know if you are trolling, but if not, looks like its time for you to quit EVE.
edit: anyway if you haven't tried missioning in low sec with pirates in local, you should try it. It actually is quite fun to watch the relatively noob pirates trying to probe out your unprobable ship or whine about MWD T2 cloak trick.

You can always join one of those big alliances, you know ? In one of their "industrial backbone" corps. They're always looking for decent industrialists anyway. _

Uh, nope. I shouldn't assume that people would read the entire thread.
I'm in a great corp that I enjoy. I actually enjoy playing in a group. As another player said, if you don't want to spam d-scan while playing get into another game.
This is the exact problem. I'm asking why stay in eve? Why continue to give them my money where I love the game and usually enjoy playing. I'm just having lots more fun playing STO and my corp and I mainly talk about other games while playing this one.
Personally, I just put up a small POS and I'm updating the ME/PE of my BPO's. I just haven't really played much in the past 3 - 6 months.
I'm just asking the question. Other than 'running around stations,' what is the pve'r or carebear getting in the near future? Why stay?

Just take a break. If the game isn't doing it for you right now, why pay? Even if there is "something coming" wait for it to come then start paying again.
And if you're like me, feel the regret of not keeping your character training while you were gone.
