Hello, what kind of ship is suited for those missions generally??
would i be able to do lvl 3 with a battlecruiser?? Lvl4s are for a battleship right??
Can you give me some fitting advices for a maelstrum and an apocalypse for lvl4 missions. Can sniping lazer turrets outdamage missiles, cause from the lvl2 i did the turrets/missiles had pretty much the same damage overall, autocannons had like 80% more damage but easily died to many enemies since i had to go close

Edited by: Mara Rinn on 01/04/2011 09:13:13 I have flown most L4 missions in an Assault Ship (T2 frigate), battlecruiser, battleship, or faction cruiser.
When flying turret ships, I have been using long range turrets with short-range ammo, or short range turrets with long range ammo. Typically aiming for an optimal+falloff of 40-60km, with drones taking care of anything that gets too close.
edit; note that some missions really reward short-range firepower (such as Silence the Informant). Just be careful about triggers, aggro the lowest number of NPCs possible.
I prefer missile ships for missions though, but that's only because I have far too many SP in missiles.

You can do L4's in a number of ways.
But the easiest way IMO is keep range and snipe.
Autocannons kill fast, but you have to be fairly close 20-30km out. You can use fittings/barrage ammo to max out this range but it gimps your setup and eats your profits.

Many NPCs tend to orbit at 50-60km. That's the key range you need to be able to hit. There are lots of ships that can do lvl 4's, but to get the tank needed to survive, they need to sacrifice DPS. You'd probably want at least 500 DPS, and as close to 1,000 as possible. The beauty of the Apoc is that with it's range bonus + T2 pulse lasers with scorch ammo, you can get an optimal range over 50-60km with what is normally "short range" weapons. Your tank doesn't really need to be over 400 sustained tank versus any particular opponent (use EFT + damage profiles to see what the sustained tank is) assuming you manage aggro well.

I do L3 in a BC all the time. It is just a matter of having the patience to train up your skills, especially drones. A BC is fine, but you are not until your skills are up.

Level 4's are best done in a battleship. I know my drake can do them, but it takes so long. You can go short range, but it is more difficult to tank then and maybe impossible depending on the ship. Torp/target painting golem is fun The best weapon depends on who you are fighting. Look up the missions and go with whatever will hit the weakness the hardest. Use your ships bonus no matter what though. Dont use kinetic missiles when you get a bonus to thermal damage. Also pay attention to the mission info. Some 4's will hit you with two types of damage and then switch it on you. Losing ships sucks.
Now to address the trolls: As far as flying 4's in a frig...sure you can tie your shoes with a tweezers and tongs but why would you?
Battlecruisers should tear through 3's. Stick with 3's until your shield skills are all at least 4 and you can equip a full t2 tank and at least level 3 for all support skills for the weapons you are using.
