Edited by: zxsteel on 02/04/2011 04:44:17 Edited by: zxsteel on 02/04/2011 04:42:12 Hello all! This maybe a quick easy fix or not. The main point of a bounty system is for him to have him killed!
Old System! Player A) Kills Player B, in empire or low sec! Player B) Places bounty on his head! (Wants to pay for his death!) Without 'Player A' to profit from it!
New System! Player A) Now has bounty on his head! When podded! His wallet takes a hit for mount on his head! and bounty gets send to player which kill him! NO PROFITS! Player A) Can no longer kill himself for bounty on his head! From other friend podding for bounty! What he gets for profit is ships he kills in low sec or empire! not from bounty! plus his death! Got to buy new pod and upgrade it! :-\!
What happens in end, he can even out his wallet! but loses iskes for pod upgrade! and or someone really kills him! GETS BOUNTY! AND RUNS! Why player A) takes hit to his wallet, sec hit! and death to him!
Is this how it should be set up in future? SAY NO TO PROFITS! 'Make their game more interesting!

Edited by: Johnny Lou on 02/04/2011 12:46:07 it's simple and it's nice and... it has a problem...
players will put insane bounties on their targets just to get their isk as well when they kill them.
Example: my friend tackles a target and engages then, just before he kills the target, he tells me to set a 1b bounty on said target. We are 1b richer by killing a guy my friend happened to stumble across in lowsec while the poor bastard lost his ship and 1b.
Sorry, no.

Hello again! Bounty 'isk' would come from player wallet! Step two, player is limited how much he can place on other player say, 15m max! per week up too 500m more players he kills, bigger bounty becomes on his head. SO this would give him options to quickly kill bounty on his head by getting poded by other player! or be careful!
Whole point comes access of low sec is FUN! But don't want him to profit from bounties on his head! But others who really care about kill bounties! on other players! I must have been here! |

The idea has some merit but you need to think it through a bit more. --------------------------------------------------

Nice, I would never run out of maney on my pirate. Just dualboxing.. other character ready on station and when my pirate scrambles another pod, my alt is going to be very rich! So, no... only good for griefing. + how do you prevent me podding myself? With 3 different accounts.

Edited by: Gizznitt Malikite on 06/04/2011 21:15:18 I think this has potential.... if you retain restrictions on who and for how much you can place a bounty...
In order to place a bounty, you need killrights or the target needs to have < -5.0 SS. Max bounty you can place is 50m/person. Bounties aren't processed until dt. Bounties can only be placed from inside a station.
This makes bounties a major isk sink.... You pay 50m to put a bounty on Dr. Horrible. Cpt. Justice pods Dr. Horrible, and Dr. Horrible gets 50m removed from his wallet. Cpt Justice is paid 50m.... and 50m is now removed from the game...
As the bounty increases, there is more desire for BH's to kill the pirate... and if the bounty gets too high, pirates can use a friend to remove the bounty, but they wont gain anything from doing so... I don't think this will truly be a problem though, as bounties are a status symbol...
*Edit* Using this system, you can also edit several of the numbers to make the isk sink more viable... pay 25m to place a 50m bounty on your favorite Pirate... have the 50m bounty really only pay out 95%, with 5% going to the bounty office as a broker's fee.

That sounds like a pretty easy way to grief someone. Look at it this way...
Presently: John ****es of Jane and has a low security status. Jane puts up a bounty on John. John's friend kills John and they both share the profits and Jane has lost money and any sense of vengeance. Thought Jane felt John has caused her to put the bounty on his head, it was her responsibility and therefor she should be the one who pays the bounty.
As proposed: John ****es Jane off and has a low security status. Jane decides to harass John by putting some bounty on him for any amount. The next time John dies not only does he lose his implants but he is robbed of his wallet. In whatever way John wronged Jane, if at all, Jane is unfairly given the power to collect child support. Oh, wait, I mean, steal from another player.
Contract killing, on the other hand, may be an excellent idea because you are given the power of choosing who to reward for bounties. ------------------------------- The fox chases for her meal, but the rabbit runs for her life. |

I see your points, and will think this tho little more. But far as system is setup, player placing bounties on one other, but this could fix people from trying to profit from killing them self's with other alt. But it also gives loop hole, use other alt to get iskes and send it back to your alt which took hit. in end your alt death. I must have been here! |

This actually sounds like a potentially good idea.
Add in a limit or something similar to war decs where the more you have the more it costs to prevent massive bounty spamming of a single pilot and I think it could work. Also I'd say limit to BOTH -5.0 sec and having kill rights, maybe the bounty limit is linked to ship insurance from kill rights?
Yes people will use it for griefing, but if you have -5 sec and kill rights against you should be tough enough to handle players hunting you down and loosing a little isk. ------------------------------ God is an afk cloaker
