Awesome.
I think that mini movies of The Incursion where players are inserted into the movie would be awesome selling point for more new pilots to want to join.
Not only are they able to interact with EvE they can also be put into a movie.

Street Fighter Doom Super Mario Bros and so much more fail.
Games just naturally make sucky movies. No matter what director, budget, or actors every game that was made into a movie SUCKED BALLS.
Why?
Most games have a particularly vague setting and not much character development. Even in games that have both the scenario and characters are so unique it is very difficult to depict well in a movie.
EVE lacks the characters. Apart from a few cameos of completely random people we have no real storyline characters. I guess Sansha would make a good bad guy but what about the hero? The hot girl? The annoying sidekick that turns out to be actually useful? The expendable character that gets killed yet because of being useless we don't feel sorry for him/her?
Plus CCP isn't as rich as you think. The income tax is nearly 40%. And although it may not seem like it. They don't make as much money as other game developers. Many people only pay for a subscription for a a year. After that there is a chance they will be making enough money to pay for their account, and any of their alts with PLEX. As a result making a decent movie (if possible) would put CCP way over budget and they would be forced to temporarily put a stop on game improvement until the movie is complete, which may not even be that good.
The most they could do would be a CGI movie. And some of the recent CGI movies that have been released have been pretty good. Plus CCP does make good trailers. But a trailer only cost a few hundred, maybe thousand to make. A full length movie is an entirely different story.
Lets keep EVE's good reputation and not press CCP to make a movie. They could of if they wanted to. Why haven't they done it yet? The reasons are obvious and most of which have been stated.

That is because they had a crap director. If we get it all entirely in house (in CCP), then I believe it will be all the while possible. CCP already write Chronicles, they already have novels, so really, I believe they will EASILY manage to get their movie right :)

peter jackson was busy on a "Halo" project that ended up getting canned. Hes a pretty good director...
personally I think theres better ways to blow 10-100 million, Writing more fiction to fill out the universe would be pretty sweet, surprisingly a high number of my friends have read wheel of time and a number of those tombs like dune etc.
And while they dont play eve, they like to read up on some of the shenanigans that take place like back stabbing, epic corp/alliance thefts and the like.
eve is unique in that unlike Ankmorpork, lots of people can write about rincewind and some of the other smaller characters in Terry Pratchetts universe.
having watched some of the Terry Pratchett for tv movies, while they come close, they still dont match the world I built in my head from the books.
Its safe to say star wars would be the same as well if it had started as a book and went to movie, the movie would have been paled in comparison to the book.
cheers,

Starwars film/serie is awesome but the game sucks hard.
Galactica film/serie is awesome gut the game sucks
Better see polished content than another boring film with the true story of ice mining and it's dynamic side. If they have too much cash to loose I know a better way to spend it. Just send me a few millions and I'll double it for them, trust me ________________________________________________

I guess the director is a big part of it, but I am still skeptical. The Novels were crap but they weren't be CCP so once again I guess it would be alright. But like I said, there are still a lot of problems with this. Budget being the biggest problem.

Thats the best part, they can make up entirely new characters and don't have to screw up the ones we know about. I mean apart from sansha and a few pirate leaders, how many characters do you know ANYTHING about in Eve?

I don't think you know how this works. You are only paying someone ISK to pay for your account with real money. So CCP is not loosing any money over this.
