Edited by: Tehg Rhind on 03/04/2011 19:24:36 I have been trying off and on for a while to get access to correctly import xml data from eve central. This is roughly what I am trying to download:
http://api.eve-central.com/api/marketstat?typeid=34&typeid=35&typeid=36&typeid=37&typeid=38&typeid=39&typeid=40&typeid=25598&typeid=25600&typeid=25603&typeid=25605&typeid=25606«ionlimit=10000043
which pulls the mineral stats and a handful of the salvage goods. It gives me 3 tables, avg, buy, sell, which is fine, but it doesn't include the type IDs.
If I run it through Excel it pulls in the type IDs but doesn't split the three tables.
Anyways, anyone have any idea on how to do the API call to Eve Central for access? Or, any links to a good tutorial about this?
edit:
so here's the basic schema for a reduced one:
http://api.eve-central.com/api/marketstat?typeid=34®ionlimit=10000043
Quote: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> - <!-- Automatically generated data from EVE-Central.com --> - <!-- This is the new API :-) --> - <evec_api version="2.0" method="marketstat_xml"> - <marketstat> - <type id="34"> - <all> <volume>30916401589.00</volume> <avg>531.84</avg> <max>192000.00</max> <min>0.39</min> <stddev>9981.43</stddev> <median>3.05</median> <percentile>0.00</percentile> </all> - <buy> <volume>23639278566.00</volume> <avg>2.64</avg> <max>3.40</max> <min>0.39</min> <stddev>0.54</stddev> <median>2.77</median> <percentile>3.18</percentile> </buy> - <sell> <volume>7277123023.00</volume> <avg>4.41</avg> <max>192000.00</max> <min>2.99</min> <stddev>12497.51</stddev> <median>3.16</median> <percentile>3.06</percentile> </sell> </type> </marketstat> </evec_api>

You're using Access still?
If google docs isn't good enough grab OpenOffice.org

I get the IDs in excel, I would just prefer to have the entire project exist in access. Also why I don't use open office

Last time I tried, OO calc required to write your own parser for XML docs. If this is still the case, Excel and/or Access would still be the best option to use. |

Im having the same issue with access. Any help here would be awesome.
As far as google docs, I'm not aware that google docs has a database application that lets you do really cool things on a consistent basis. Spreasheets are cool and all but Access 2010 is actually pretty damn good.
Any help with this would definitely be awesome.

Google docs has a function importXML or something like that which will put all the data you need into cols ready to go.
Stop burning hours in Access, it will only cost you time, it is a toy that the world gave up on 10 years ago. CCP Nathan "the data does not seem to support that polished quality sells" Evelgrivion "each passing year, each failure to deliver on expectations of basic competence" |

Having tried converting my spreadsheet package in to access only without coding (cus I don't know how since they stopped using line numbers!), I have to agree. Spreadsheet is the way to go, create forms make it look nice, hide sheets and if you really want to create your own menu functions/icons. View The Eve Industrial Organiser Site
