So...
Since Windows 95 ... ... within Windows there's an API for Speech Recognition. As time went by, it improved.
Given that it was (probably) bad at that time (but still public so somehow good enough) ... ... it's good enough for word processing at present.
"Scramble" ... points the selected target "Warp" ... warps to the next gate (route) "Map" ... opens the map "Market orders" ... opens your orders in the market window "Set course. Dodixie." ...
... etc.
Hell ... Long story short.
There's Aura. She's the reason i even got the idea.
How comes she can't listen ?
It's even easy to implement! YOU CAN EVEN DO IT IN PHYTON !!!!!!!
It's just ****ing string-comparing anyway ! (that's the annoyed coder speaking here ^^)
And it's only client-side !
AND ALSO ... MARKETING !!!!!!!!!! "Wow i can give direct orders to the ships computer ? OMG COOL !!!!"
^^

I believe petitions are already coming up for far less ... ... so the argument (altough a good one) falls out completely.
Every time CCP introduces something new ... ... where noobs get their hands on too ... ... there's a raise of petitions. (How'd i know ? Common sense.)
And ... they keep on coming anyway. See petitions about legal game mechanics. (OMG HE SALVAGED MY WRECK !!! BAN HIM !!!!!)

Riiiight, adding 234905834958349348 petitions to already overbeared system is not a valid argument.

Sure it is an argument, but on the other hand that would mean that CCP shouldn't change anything anymore. So ... no more expansions ?
Guess that ain't gonna happen.
In this case, progress just adds sacrifice like in every other case.

Wrong, most new staff doesn't cause that many petitions (granted that some mechanics are missunderstood but there is not much of it, especially compared to amount of petitions this feature would cause).

Well, you have your argument, but it doesn't count for me anyway.
There's "thousands" of petitions open every day, and using these as argument against anything new is working against every progress that can be made.
I'd wanna know what a dev says to this.
It's not hard to implement, and as i'm no game programmer, i can't tell if there are any hold-ups.

Not everyone pronounces words, especially made up words, the same way. I can see that sort of thing being a problem.
There's better things to be working on than voice recognition anyway.

I am all for this.
It takes much longer for a person to clearly say words such as "Lock target *random*" and "fire group of medium pulse lasers" than it does to click the module. And I need every advantage I can take, cause I suck at PvP.

This...Japanese person would never get to Rens or Laah, they don't do R's and L's like English speakers. Not a bust, its how thier language is structured. Hell been here so long I do the same thing sometimes and I am a native English speaker lol.
Also just in the US alone you have variance. Was a handy dandy voice activated device meant for cars in the US a few years back. Had to be pulled from certain markets. If a hippie from cali or from the north...worked just fine. Didn't pick up southern draws too well though. Hell on trips to the big px (the US for the non-military types) with the family I have to translate English to English for my wife (she is ESL) when I road trip down south. Had me a string of southern roommates and such co-workers in the military, I learned several draws so can work out things. Southern draws...not covered in any English lessons I have ever heard from the wifes collections. Gonna bet good money even CCP's devs would be going wtf in a piggly wiggly in some deep southern spots lol.
