Howdy,
Now I don't mean is anyone here perfect and suffer what ever consequences are for being perfect, this was just a catchy title and really the only one I could think of at the time.
Does anyone here spend so much time just min/maxing crunching numbers trying to get the best fit, slots, amount needed to be produced that the market can bear, how to divy up time slots and put in build orders to maximize how often you have to log in to change bpos, looking at market trends of how the item might do. That by the time you get a list compiled you no longer have the energy to actually put it in motion? So you put it and the information on the backburner while you go off and make charts/tables for something else just to repeat itself over and over again?
I do, which is why I've made a promise that I will only take one project on at a time, and to start doing things in smaller chunks (I would make a table and plan on that, but I fear I would spend so much time perfecting the time planning chart that when I was finished I'd no longer want to do it). Instead I'm just going to get 4 items that are "acceptable" gather the stuff needed (including bpos or researching them)start building them, once they are in the oven then I will go find another 4 profitable items and start.
Vs how I was doing it where I go spend a day finding 40 slot a day build orders with timers, timetables, market burden, bpo investment, roi. Where I get halfway done and just wander off to the next project. I buy mission loot in bulk at above buy order prices! (sinq laison) |

My good friend Gary Gygax warned me against min maxers back in the 80's. He said they were the devil, and I believed him. .

If you have this much time to spend perfecting your calculations for a long list of items, it might be better to spend your time just automating the whole process.
In the meantime, just figure out what's an acceptable "hurdle" ROI or ISK/slot/day and make whatever you find first.

Aye I was in the process of automating it, like I have done with a lot of things. My hard part came down to calculating time per slot (couldn't find a db that had the time for BPOS). Then I needed to daily my daily sale/volume sheet I made (you know the one).
What you said is exactly what I am doing, well more its now taking the bpos I researched for this purpose and you know... actually putting them in the oven. I buy mission loot in bulk at above buy order prices! (sinq laison) |

And the word of the prophet has been quoted.
And lo it is found to true and full of wisdom.
Let us rejoice and follow it in its path!
RIP Gary.
Onto the original question - nah. Not an issue for me, but you have to be careful, some aspects of eve are linear (more effort invested, you get a proportional amount of reward back) sometimes its exponential (more effort invested, much bigger rewards) and sometimes it follows diminishing returns (last 20% efficiency will amount to 80% of the effort!). Overall though if you are enjoying it you are doing well, just be careful not to burn out.

Nope, obsessing over the details takes all the fun out of the game for me.

I love obsessing over all the details.
But I'm consciously penny-wise and pound-foolish: I'll arbitrarily leave things out of my calculations (like what sec level I set my base up in) or I'll spend piles of time playing with an idea that generates only a fraction of the profit I could make doing something else.

I obsess over fits.
My favorite though is seeing people posting threads complaining that GM's won't remove the 13 skillpoints they put in useless skill x because it makes their character sheet messy.

That annoys me too, so I usually train it up to 4, for aesthetic purposes ofc.
