Vertical sync on? Either in EVE or in your general graphics card settings? ===== The world will not end in 2012, however there will be a serious nerf to Planetary Interaction. |

I had that yesterday, funnily enough after just playing a heavy session of Crysis 2...

If you are using a modern Nvidia GPU, you may have experienced a bug where the GPU has lowered its speed to save power, it's supposed to automatically increase when sufficient load has been detected but sometimes it doesn't, it's a very rare occurrence and I've only noticed it happen in eve.

If its still happening, minimize EVE and check Task Manager to see what is using an abnormal amount of CPU/RAM.
Also, have you recently changed to a new firewall (or simply updated an old one). This can cause issues with online games.

Have you ran diagnostics on ur hard drive? and maybe try listening to it for abnormal sounds? I had a corp member who's eve client would use alot of resources and it was tracked to a hard drive that was close to dying.

Did the FPS drop occur upon log in or while you were playing?

1. Restart your PC and see if it reverts back. 2. Verify that you have the most up-to-date drivers through ATI 3. If you have an AMD processor, download their optimization tool. 4. Verify in Device Manager (right click my computer and go to properties, click hardware, click device manager) that you have no yellow alerts on any equipment pertaining to the game. (Sometimes only one game may be affected) 5. COMPLETELY uninstall and reinstall EVE. 6. If this fixes you, double the size of my wallet currently by depositing 50 mill...LOL
Seriously though if that doesn't work, let me know as those steps will pretty much verify all of the eve client-side specific stuff.

where ever your eve is installed there is a file called Repair.EXE it will check all the files on the client and replace any that might be bad or missing.

You may also want to check your ATI CCC. I know that NVIDIA allows you to assign profiles to individual exe files. My suggestion would be to also go into your CCC and restore everything to default so you know for a fact that Eve is controlling your graphics settings and not the ATI CCC. I used a GTX 460 so I'm not sure if ATI has the same ability in their graphics utility. If not, disregard.

run gpu-z and see what the card's clocks are while not running any games and running EVE. If they're the same your card is running in a kind of '2d mode'. uʍop ǝpısdn ǝɹnʇɐuƃıs ʎɯ ƃuıpɐǝɹ ǝɹɐ noʎ Signature removed. Please submit a petition for further details. Navigator

Edited by: Grey Stormshadow on 05/04/2011 22:05:56 As you reseted your bios, would check the power saving profiles from there, all settings related to pci express speed and that plug and pray os setting is enabled... and pretty much everything else what can be even remotelly related...
...and as you needed to open your box to reset bios, it is prolly good idea to recheck that you didn't accidently kill the gfx adapters fan... if it doesnt spin, fps obviously drops because card overheats and goes to "safe mode". ------------------------------------------------- Play with the best - die like the rest starwreck.com - support the cause :) |

The GPU is fine, Fan works and it doesnt go over 50 C.
I had alook at the bios i couldn't see anything concerning the power output to the GPU but ill have another look.
btw still go the issue after a re-install

download and use cpu-z and gpu-z and make sure that the numbers meet your specs, if somthing is too low when running eve it will help find ut what might cause it.
I had a problem with my cpu on my laptop, for some reason was wowfully underclocking itself (i7's adjustable on the fly multiplyer changing). i installed the latest bios and set it to not fall below a certain multiplyer and everything was smooth again.

Pretty much what is said above... Get both cpuz and gpuz, and check them against your specs, though it's probably fine since crysis runs fine.
Check in the bios that all speeds match up (if you've overclocked, try resetting the clock, or at the very least make sure that your FSB and PCIE speeds are set to asynchronous. PCIE speed should beeeeeeeeee.... 100mhz if i recall correctly.
Symptoms suggest a software issue since other stuff runs fine, so just make sure everything is up to date. Don't just update however, remove drivers/game etc completely and replace with the latest.
At the end of the day, if it's still a mystery the best bet is to strip down to bare essentials (mobo, cpu, ram, gfx, hdd), including only one monitor if you normally run more. If it still does it, then try swapping each component one by one (not easy if you don't have spares lying around).
A final thought, are you absolutely positively sure you got the right BIOS? If so, try reflashing, it might have hiccup'd.
