Apparently CCP doesn't!
Voting ended in January, has CCP really reneged on handing out prizes?

Maybe you didn't get the memo.

Edited by: Foxgguy2001 on 10/04/2011 23:12:41 Seriously... I cannot even fathom how the MULTITUDES who took it upon themselves to create and enter their ideas for this contest, do not even DESERVE an explanation? It's clear by the many threads that have asked this question, that it's been tossed by the wayside. In-effect, it's unimportant, and any communication in regards to it, to the community in which they sought designs from, is just insulting.

As someone who entered the contest on an old character, and who read the full terms & agreements, I'm pretty sure it mentioned in there that the ships which won, wouldn't be in the game for a year+ from the competition.
Still doesn't excuse CCP from saying who won though, it must be really annoying for the the final voted. I kinda forgot about it since my ship didn't get voted in... didn't want to win the stupid competition anyway

They already started another competition and removed it shortly after starting it. It wasn't an art contest, but contests really aren't their strong suit. Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

The winner has already been announced. A T3 Minmatar Battleship designed by a player. IF you go to the DevianArt website, you can view the winner and Second/Third winners.
I am sure designing a starship and tweaking the mechanics of the ingame ship takes lots of time. Also, it's suppose to be a T3 Minmatar ship so most likely, it will take well over year for the ship to be implemented in the game (even if CCP decides to introduce it as just T1/T2 battleship).
This is a small extra work CCP co-hosted with DevianArt to promote fan arts and such, and hence, we shouldn't be expecting CCP to abide by strict deadlines that they usually set for expansions and whatnot.
Give CCP some time. Lets worry about our pretty forum first.
And don't forget, CCP will be handing out a nice and unique vanity ship in compensation for our unyielding endless patience for the new forum outage! Don't be so angry!!!

I just browsed through some of the entries, and wow... people clearly put their hearts and minds into this stuff. I wonder how many man-hours were spent on putting these models together - not to mention the slick posters showcasing them. Some of the models honestly look a lot cooler and more interesting than the existing ship models in EVE. Nice work.
It's bull**** that these designers are not even getting basic recognition for their hard work and artistry. Are there some open source projects where you guys can submit them and where they might actually be used and appreciated?
This kind of community-generated content sounds like the future of MMOs and gaming in general. These models (and all the great open-source projects out there) clearly show that volunteers can do work that outstrips corporate results, in both quantity and quality.

That's exactly the same contest that I was talking about.
Not to be condescending or anything, but if you do a quick web-search on DeviantArt website, you will note that the winners have already been selected and announced publicly. It's just that CCP did not do a good job announcing the winners on its own website.

Dude, WTF are you talking about. Deviant art had nothing to do with the second competition. It was solo CCP project with facebook voting and we haven't heard a peep from them about it in any forum for months now.

That is not the competition we are talking about. The final vote competition was a separate one held shortly after the deviant art one was finished.

WRONG CONTEST. I don't even think CCP got to pick the finalists / judge in that one.
The winner is a piece of ****. It's just a ****ing tempest / nightmare.
