Received a odd email through a email address thats only used for Eve. It was from MMM Publishing Ltd, which after further research is the publishing company that does EON Magazine. Whats odd is the fact the subject was just "effef" and it was just images(which I have disabled due to security reasons). Also its odd because anything thats usually EON related is sent through a CCP or Eveonline address.
So CCP are you giving out our email addresses now?

A lot of emails come as grouped images nowadays because you can make it look pretty. EVE's email tends to be a mix. Just for future reference, its probably not dodgy :) "Grammatically, the word 'nothing' is a noun, which suggests that it refers to something." - Wikipedia |

Figured as much after looking up who it is. The images part is default for anything that comes in. Was more confused on the subject being effef, and the fact that this was the first non CCP email to that address in 3 years.

It seemed strange to me as well. I didn't open it.
However I don't get Eon, so no idea how they got my email.

Assuming you did not fill in your address using the eve-shop or other marketing scheme: I don't think they are allowed to pass on any of your personal contact information to MMM Publishing as they are not a majority owned subsidiary and are only contracted for the purposes of EVE related material. This is then in contradiction to CCP's current privacy policy.
I was not contacted, so I have a feeling you've purchased something through the shop and in such way are recorded by MMM Publishing ltd.

It's funny, I wouldn't consider a GeForce GTX 460 SE to be a "superior" card, and a GeForce GTX 550 Ti FPB isn't exactly a powerhouse either. Those were the best two in the offer, and they are pretty underwhelming. Personally, I'd go with a 460 GTX (without the "SE" at the end) any day, and I'd call that either a high mid-range or a low high-end card.

Are you sure the email was from MMM Publishing ?
Did you ever register to any 3rd party EVE site using that email ? Like, oh, say, SHC ? Alliance forums ? Killboards ? Ever purchased a GTC online with that email as contact ? No ? Nothing ? _

Oh, well  Wouldn't surprise me if CCP actually (even if accidentally) gave out the email addresses. Not with how great and smooth everything has been going on lately.

They should have sent out the emails themselves on behalf of MMM Publishing, not given out the list of emails. The EVGA offer, for instance, came from [email protected], not vresp.com

Actually they do that so you are forced to view the images in order to track the emails for marketing campaign statistics.

it's a third party service contracted by CCP. a lot of game publishers do this. Here is a header from the Duke Nukem First Access Club (2K Games):

And how do you know CCP did'nt send the email, using the vresp.com mail server?
It a standard feature in most mail server to grant another domain access to send mails, and it's often something used when you need to share customer data, but don't want to give the other party a copy of your data.

Its about the ISK guide being in print. However like I said its just odd that it was sent through MMM Publishing address with subject effef. Usually emails about EON are still sent through a CCP/Eve Online email address.

I've been messing around for about a year and i've not recieved spam-mail from CCP either, only emails from CCP i've gotten are newsletters which i signed up for.
The only non-newsletter email i got was when i closed my alt account and it said "Get free time when you re-open your account" type email.
That's about it though. Newbie looking for pvp corp or some kinda stuff-killing-corp or some WH action. ~3mil SP, can fly BC & soon CovOps.

I've also played on and off since 05 and have not received spam mail, other than a free weeks play type of email to rejoin. But don't even receive that type anymore as I'm no longer signed up to the news letter.

The reply field isn't relevant for an email. It's only for us users and nothing more. Anyone can send a mail using the email [email protected] (just like the scammers do) in the "reply to" field without any problem.

Most email client at going to pop up warnings if the email claim to originate from at different domain then the one which it was send from, if the sending server can't be verified by the domain it pretends to be. You can use [email protected] but most system would automatically treat the email as spam or a security threat.
Forcing people to reply to a different email address by "spoffing" the sender, breaks what little trust is designed into the protocol.

Can confirm I received the same email. It's an advert for the printed version of the ISK guide, which I wouldn't mind if half the info in it wasn't either wrong, blatantly obvious or out of date
Judging by the recent 'guest dev blog' about the same topic it seems CCP is trying to help with sales of the printed copy.

No, they dont. Checking the "Reply To" field to see if a mail is spam, scam or something else isnt used for years (unless you're using outlook express, girlslaughing.jpg). The checking is made against the SPF DNS fields and the SPF mail header. Also, the headers posted comes from yahoo, because the company doing the marketing for CCP is using the yahoo business mail services.
