So as indepth as eve warfare gets, has anyone tried taking the war using irl tactics? IE: lets say your at war with an alliance, and you know the enemy director alliance GF Irl. So youbefriend her and get her to give you alliance secrets. Or maybe you want to infiltrate a corp, and a real member lives near you, so you make friends with said person in real life, gain their trust, and screw their corp over later. Anyone ever done anything like that? |

About the worst I've heard of is some Russians physically cutting a dude's powerlines to kill his titan in-game.
Internet spaceships is serious business, after all.

I know certain alliances who have used denial of service attacks on rivals TS and Vent servers.
That kind of thing can get you IRL trouble though.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Goon/Bob grudge match crossed over into the real world from time to time, not a lot of love lost between those two ..
If an outsider watched them from afar they'd probably think it was a married couple using Eve to settle real world arguments by proxy

Was flying shotgun in a Demon Hunters POS shoot fleet once when the TS got DDoSed by defending DRF forces. Was wondering why it got all quiet all of a sudden. Next thing I know fleet chat is spamming "GTFO!" FC emorage quit over it.
Suppose that's what you get for using oog services to gain an advantage. btw, whats wrong with Eve voice that no one uses it? I've never had any problems with it.

As for me personally, we had spies find out one of the main FCs for some alliance we were at war with would always answer a phone in his apartment that was away from his PC. One dude in the alliance worked in the telecom industry and found out this RL number, which we'd sometimes call at opportune times. Allegedly, it was because he was cheating on wife and his mistress(es) would call that number. Later on someone supposedly blackmailed him with that information, but I'd left the alliance by then, so no idea if it's true or not.
That's about as bad as it got where that I encountered firsthand, besides the usual: filling out mass petitions (real and false) about bots, RMT, black market character sales, account-sharing, etc. on other alliances around us; DDoS attacks on their comms; hacking their forums using people from nations with lax information laws (don't use your EVE login for OOG forums, srsly); the general "holy ****" stuff that happens because internet spaceships is serious business.
Probably the funniest I heard (not entirely sure if true or not), there was some incredibly socially-awkward guy who acted as the Hero Logistician for his alliance but suddenly turned on them because the alliance they were up against sent two hookers to his place (free of charge) with the agreement that there would be more as long as he continued helping them take regions.
Reading what I wrote makes me realize part of why I left sov 0.0.

Well if it makes the dissapointment somewhat less, me and my alts always fly in V-formation. This helps alot when encountering asteroids, you can just pierce through them

PL does this quite a bit. Turning the LOIC against their own brethren. For shame.

Someone RLs you...violence them.

Art of war- Sun Tsu read it and you'll find ways to implement what you can do in eve to RL tactics

The voice quality is pretty poor compared to other services and it can't handle a large fleet without major lag issues or dropping out (anything bigger than 30-40 people, really). It's really not sufficient for alliance fleet uses.
