Edited by: captain skinback on 17/04/2011 16:23:53 Edited by: captain skinback on 17/04/2011 16:18:20 oh man i love conspiracy theories.
hackers use rmt in games to launder money from stolen credit cards to their own accounts. its not done as much in eve since ccp stamped down on it. i dont personally believe anyone would pay real money to take a star system but i do believe they might use stolen money from someone else's credit card.
chances are the stolen money was spent on plexs so the alliances paid in isk and not actual cash. I say this because of the way hackers use rmt to launder money. Its easy to spend stolen money on isk but since ccp stamped down, its nearly impossible for them to convert isk back into real money.
as im on the subject I got to say ccp did a great job in getting rid of rmt. if every game developer follows ccps strategy in getting rid of rmt it will reduce the amount of credit card fraud that goes around. or at least make it harder for those who do it get away with it.

No I think the real question here is what % of the forum population bots, exploits and RMT's
Anyone who is anybody (or has any sense) will know that posting such "evidence" at this point in the gameplay, would likely amount to my account getting banned by CCP. That being said their is tons of literature on the subject, so you don't have to take my word for it.
I've never been important enough to bot or RMT. But I still call troll. Hell, OP's corp name smells like troll.
Now here's my counter claim: All world governments trade in cheese. Cheese is more valuable than gold on the international markets because it takes a lot of milk to get a little cheese, and cheese is consumed, where since there's no commercial use for gold it doesn't get consumed, but is always being mined. Cheese is by far more valuable because the older it is the rarer and more valuable it gets. Once cheese reaches a certain age it starts to develop a unique chemical compound that makes interacts with the flouride in the water to create a mind control drug. The urine of people on this mind control drug (everybody in the world but me) is a potent starship fuel which will take the human race to the planet Zargon where they will live a billion years in slavery to the mystical Cockroach people. Now the real big conspiracy kicks in when you realize that the Cockroach people have been lying to us, telling us the planet is 6 thousand years old. It's really only 3 thousand years old. Everything before that is a belief they transmit into your brain using gamma radiation. But I must stop now or the Zargons will be able to smell my thoughts and know I'm revealing their secrets.
In short, OP needs to see the doctor about updating his meds. Crazy smells like crazy.

If I write in a blog that Fiori 161 is an RMT'd FC and also a koala bear, would you link it as "evidence" to support your claim ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

Edited by: Widemouth Deepthroat on 17/04/2011 17:43:54 I don't know about irl money changing hands but I've been in many alliances where FCs have had their subs paid (plex/gtc via isk), all ships covered with reason even outside of normal alliance ship reimbursement terms and heavily discounted (or even free) super cap depending on alliance wealth. They deserve it imo for generating content for alliance members. Some are more deserving than others :D

A real conspiracy theory would have CCP insiders using RMT as a side business and using their insider access to cover their tracks.
OTOH, given the last RMT exposT which alleged that the RMT company has a *huge* reserve of isk/plex/etc., I would postulate that the RMTers might not need to pay for FCs.

A beautifully written new take on a modern classic troll subject. Fiori gives us a refreshing new look into an area often overlooked and in doing so raises some interesting questions about the true meaning on 0.0 sovereignty. Would recommend to anyone, even those with limited 0.0 experience. 9/10 |

ok so let's see if i get the whole conspiracy theory concept you propose.
1: all real huge and estable 0.0 alliances are fueled by RMT on their FC. 2: all huge and estable 0.0 alliances have refund programs so their pvpers don't need to waste isk to fight for the cause. 3: all players in 0.0 alliances then do not need to buy isk via RMT since their isk needs are covered in point 2 4: this lead us to the single and astonishing truth.... HI-SEC CAREBEARS WHO DO NOT SUFFER CONSTANT PVP LOSSES ARE THE REAL PPL THAT BUY ALL THE ISK!!!!
Frack those carebears they are ruinning EVE for sure...
also i would love to know the ammount of real money FC are getting paid so we can make a calculation about how many billions or trillions of isk ppl buy monthly in order to keep fueling those 0.0 alliances.
P.S: if any alliance bother to pay their FC with plex so they can keep playing despite how their RL it's going on it's that considered also RMT?

Let's assume for a split second that everything you said would be absolutely and completely true... and let's start playing devil's advocate...
My question is : SO WHAT IF ?
What if "alliance leader X" is such a psychopath that he does pay his titan losses out of his own pocket (assume for a second he actually buys GTC, transforms to PLEX, sells PLEX, so that he is NOT breaking the EULA), and what if he does want to pay up a metric whoopload of cash to FCs to do their job and stuff ? LAST TIME I CHECKED THAT WAS NOT AGAINST THE EULA.
Quote: The Game is comprised of, without limitation, software code, programs, routines, subroutines, objects, files, data, characters (and items, currency, objects and attributes comprising or associated with a character or an Account), graphics, sound effects, music, animation, video, text, content, layout, design and other information downloaded from and accessible through the System (collectively, the "Game Content"). [...] The System may allow you to communicate information, such as by posting messages in chat rooms, on bulletin boards and other user-to-user areas (collectively, "User Content").
Quote: B. Selling Items and Objects You may not transfer, sell or auction, or buy or accept any offer to transfer, sell or auction (or offer to do any of the foregoing), any content appearing within the Game environment, including without limitation characters, character attributes, items, currency, and objects, other than via a permitted Character Transfer as described in section 3 above. You may not encourage or induce any other person to participate in such a prohibited transaction. The buying, selling or auctioning (or any attempt at doing so) of characters, character attributes, items, currency, or objects, whether through online auctions (such as ebay), newsgroups, postings on message boards or any other means is prohibited by the EULA and a violation of CCP's proprietary rights in the Game.
Notice how conspicuously absent "actions players take outside of the scope of communicating information" is from the list of defined "content" ? That means that (according to the letter, if not the spirit of the EULA) it should be perfectly acceptable to be paid to MANAGE a corporation, or be paid to FC a fleet, or be paid to go wipe out a target ship/POS/corp/alliance.
Now, at the first time somebody actually DOES sell a character or ISK or any items at any given time, he does engage in RMT, and the EULA is pretty clear on that one. But as long as no "in-game content" changes hands (and what you CHOOSE to do in-game without the transfer of funds or items, and excepting information broadcast), it's all still ok.
EVEN IF IT WOULDN'T BE (if, say, this is eventually deemed as an oversight to the letter of the EULA and is amended), the modified EULA would be completely and utterly UNENFORCEABLE, due to the fact CCP can not have any complete control over how you choose to distribute RL funds as long as there's no clear in-game trace of any kind for it.
