Wasting resources on a client facet that is not needed is poor design unless it's made optional. Here is why incarna needs to have a button to load walkable station environment (graphics client for your character):
1) Lower end machines can play eve fine as is - incarna would just be a bonus. 2) Multiple clients on one machine is what a large portion of eve players are running. The current station interface supports it, while there is a good chance incarna will be messed up and require additional gpu resources and player actions. 3) Forcing unnecessary mini-games is bad design. It should be optional.
My suggestion is to add a simple "enter station" or "leave pod" key to the current station interface. Don't break what's working fine right now. Campaign for this on all available forums if you agree.

No.
I'm sick to death of hearing all this optional BS in a game which prides itself on non-optional content. PvP market, wardecs, bountys, anything outside of highsec PvP. Plus the joy of low sec and null sec chuckleheads demanding others game play be nerfed or removed to suit their own selfish aims. Well you can choke on it. Upgrade your machine or GTFO. I hope it makes every null sec pilot weep tears of blood and pain. ***By coffee alone I set my mind in motion, by the beans of Java thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning, by coffee alone I set my mind in motion.*** |

Really man? I mean an identical post is literally on the same page, not to mention this has been echoed all over the feedback thread. If they haven't gotten it by now another thread will certainly do nothing to change their mind.

From an RP view: why wouldn't you want to leave your ship to enjoy all the things you can afford with your ISK and subsequent power? What's the use of floating in pod goo all your long life and never really meet people, eat and drink stuff, basically use your senses - just for the sake of having an enhanced interface with your ship? Your're insane if that's really what you wanted ..

If you're in a delivery van that gets loaded and unloaded automatically within seconds, and you're in a hurry to finish your job so you can indeed relax finally and enjoy the cash you have, WHY WOULD YOU go into the nearest pub or restroom or whatever to waste a few minutes each and every time you stop ?

Edited by: Miilla on 22/04/2011 00:09:56 Yes you are correct Incarna patch is entirely optional, if you want Incarna you have to pay 50 USD or 3 PLEX.
The concept is called VERTICAL SHARDING, WoW, Anarchy Online, etc., has been doing this for years.
To play eve you need a Shader 3.0 model GPU. Right? No OLPC Pcs here.

You work for Microsoft, I take it? You won't complain if Notepad suddenly takes up 4GB of RAM, will you? After all, just upgrade your machineà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Don't be stupid only Notepad.Net takes up 4GB ram, but that is garbage collected RAM! so its better for you.
Notepad.exe is the most stable app in MSFT's repository because it never changes. Fact.

They've been told this from the start but are sure to ignore it.
Marketing trumps playerbase.
They need to force us to load this crap to make fodder for the marketing vids on youtube.

Notepad loads the whole file as a single string. Hence the RAM and grind.
Programmers editors load each line as a separate array element, meaning editing doesn't have to loop through a whole file of characters to change one.
