Due to get a new phone soon. For ppl that have either, what do you like about it, what do you not like about it. I have heard a few good and bad things about both. From iPhone's golden garden to Android's appetite for battery. And both are useful tools for the internet.
This is not so much a which one is better, so much as a what do you like or not like about what you have.
Thanks in advance.

The Android is easier to root. I had a droid incredible and now I have droid X. The droid incredible was terrible when it came to the stock battery although I heard that the upgraded battery makes life easier. The droid X has stellar battery monitoring apps though and I don't kill my battery nearly as fast. My wife has a droid 2 global and she loves it although battery power is an issue with her as well. I think the main issue with battery power is managing what apps and services you have on and off. If your phone is in your pocket and your not really using it then GPS doesn't really have to be on, if your driving down the road in your car then I doubt the wifi finder really needs to be on, etc. Both phones are good really.

Edited by: Astroka on 23/04/2011 08:59:22 I have Verizon's Samsung Fascinate (the carrier's Galaxy S variant) and I love it. The AMOLED screen saves a lot of battery so it can usually go a full 48 hours without charging with normal (by my standards) use. It's fast and responsive, with plenty of great apps and features. Downside...sometimes it can act up or stutter a bit which gets annoying, but nothing too bad. It also likes to run the media scanner twice and takes several minutes to boot up completely. My other complaint isn't Android-specific, but the Fascinate never got upgraded to Android 2.2, which offers shiny new features and massive performance boosts.

The iphone is terrible with battery life and while the android is not much better it tends to be better espially if you get a good htc, sony erricson or samsung I'd personanly try to avoid any other manafacturer, htc tend to provide the quickest and more reliable updates of the 3.
The iphone has better apps than the android although android is not far behind it anymore I still feel its behind.
the iphone generally has worse antena's and is prety bad with signal (this is on 3g and gsm networks if you using american cdma I am not sure as no experience).
iphone is prety restrictive with there app store, only browser you can get other than safarai is opera mini and that tooks ages for that to be allowed, there is also other stuff they don;t allow like wifi scanning apps and stuff and I've heard they turn down apps all the time if they feel it may helpa competitor.
android phones are not just stuck to using google market palce for exmaple amazon have an andorid apps store now, you can not offically use any other apps tore for iphoen unless you jail break it.
The iphoens have prety crappy cameras and most high end andorid phones have alot better cameras on them.
The iphones have easier time finding alot of accerios liek cases and other things because there is lots of them sold with same form factor and such where as although most android phoens have similar shapes they all have differnt form factors.
The iphone can not accept memory cards were as all android phoens I have ever used can, to offset this the iphoen has lots of internal memory were as msotly android tend to have alot less internal nd rely on emmory card for boosting it so this would come down to what you prefer though.
The iphone has itunes whcih is simple to use for syncing/backups and updates and user friendlyness I've yet to see any pc/mac software for any android phoen come any were close to it for ease of use and simplicity.
There is also fact that iphoen 4's are prety old model now were as there si constanly new andorid phones coming out, if you buy an iphone 4 now you may slighly ****ed off since they due to release the iphoen 5 within next 6 months or so.

Before I moved, I had the original Motorola Droid, and was quite happy with it. Verizon's network worked just fine. After I moved, I had a choice between sticking with Android, or switching to an iPhone 4, and I stuck with the Android. Now using a Sony Xperia X10.
A friend of mine has the HTC Droid Incredible, and loves it. -------------------

I know from experience just how god awful and unintuitive iTunes is. Even if the iPhone didn't force you into a corner with many other issues, iTunes alone would stop me getting one.

So I have been doing a little more research. It seems that Samsung is due to have a new 4GLTE phone that is comming out `April 28 or so, and that the Droid Bionic has been getting pushed back. In the world of smart phones, it seems that releasing your product is sort of a game of chicken. If your company releases your phone first, it gives the competitor a chance for last minute changes, and in doing so, offering something that the other guy doesn't have.
ATM the HTC Thunderbolt looks pretty nice, as long as you can keep it charged i guess. I am new to the idea that phones will need to be chaged a few times a day.
