Can someone please confirm for me that it is where an escalation starts, not where it ends, that primarily determines how good the loot is? For example, starts in high sec, final stage is in low sec = crap loot, starts in low sec, final stage is in low sec = ok loot, starts in low sec, final stage is in null sec = good loot, etc.? Either this is the case, or there's a flag field on my database record that says LOOT=CRAP :p.
Thanks.

I've completed a number of escalations and I have yet to have one that dropped ANY loot. -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |

Its normally the quality of the complex you are doing that determines the loot. Obviously 0.0 complexes yields best loot.

Edited by: Dhaliparton on 23/04/2011 13:41:40 I had one mission drop a c-type shield transporter...3 mil in total loot. exploration is way not worth doing over mission running. Unless you just like to move probes around space and get to an explo site and it's already looted and/or no escalation. As you can tell I'm pretty non-exploration at this point and it sucks because this is what my char was trained to do......That said, CCP has done a good job of letting me find worm holes. i can scan your sister down in 1 second with no implants (so to speak) |

Yep stick to your missions. Best place for the whiney, entitlement crowd.
As for the op, no that is not how it works. The loot tables are set toward the specific expedition or rat. For instance, cruiser sized faction rats will drop cruiser sized bpcs and modules regardless of security. As for expeditions, something like Gurista Watch starts in high sec, leads to Terrorist Plot, the last part of which will have a DG destroyer that can drop a worm bpc or Pithi A-type small shield booster or transporter. Or all 3. Or nothing at all. Or some named modules.
Random number generator. The best way to beat it, is to increase your sample.

Ok thanks. I see. You get different escalations in low or null and hence different rats or loot (or at least the probabilities are different in different places).

The reply I posted in this thread pretty much explains about expeditions.

It's still the same now as it was when I posted it.
The high security 'Hideout' combat sites have expeditions that start and end in high security and will drop C-Type Deadspace loot. The high security 'Lookout', 'Watch' and 'Vigil' combat sites have expeditions that start in high security and end in low security and will drop A-Type Deadspace loot. B-Type Deadspace loot is found in the static DED complexes shown in the starmap. The hidden DED 3/10 Rogue Drone Asteroid Infestation complex will drop Serpentis Faction loot. The other hidden Pirate DED complexes will drop A-Type Deadspace and Faction loot.
Low security expeditions will start in low security and end in 0.0 security.

Of the several expeditions that I have done, only one actually terminated in a ded complex that dropped faction module.

Exploration is good isk. I'm one of the wealthier members of my Alliance because I can find exploration sites and complete most of them solo. -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |

I've had a Daredevil BPC drop in 0.5 belt. I've had snake implants drop in .3 exploration sites(125million).

I picked up a Snake Gamma (worth 60mil or so) off of a Shadow Serp cruiser on a multi-stage expedition that started in highsec. (This particular mission was in lowsec.)
