It's a rank 1 skill.
Why is it not sold in sufficient quantities by the NPC school stations?
I went to 3 different regions, why is the basic trade skill 2.5-3 mill ISK?
It should be more like 90k, similar to the other basic trading skills sold on the market by NPC's...

Because the restock amount is set to zero. Enterprising people noticed this, bought all the stock at 40k each and now resell at 2m.
The same is true of Diplomacy skill.

Two questions:
One) If we know about it, shouldn't they (CCP) know about it?
Two) What missions do you do to get the skill? I mean who gives them out?

Edited by: DarkMatter on 08/02/2005 20:04:45 This is obviously something CCP is ignoring...
Doesn't really make much sense.
I had to pay 2 mill for a 40k skill???
The isk is not the problem, it's just the principal of the matter, the bug at hand...
Has this been going on since the trade skill hit the market??? Before Exodus?

Being a 1 month noob i was very happy with this reward.
Still i agree its way to expensive...

And how would one find this restock info? Where do you look for info like this?

I think it makes perfect sense. Just as with the RL market prices go up when a specific comodity is monopolized. (and this skill is...sorta)
Same thing happened with the advanced learning skills. People stached away more than they needed and sold them at a much highr price. It'll work with lots of other stuff since people in need will pay more. Nothing strange. That's why you can be a trader in Eve.

CCP realized that the Advanced learning skill seeding was a blunder, that's why the following day they upped the seeding.
This is a Rank 1 noob skill that should sell at schools in sufficient quantities.
But hey, I'm not surprized CCP is ignorant to this fact, or don't feel it's important enough to fix...
They seem to ignore a lot of blatantly obvious problems with their game similar to this one...
Sorry, but a skill you can get at character creation, is a noob skill, and should not meet this fate...
CCP needs to fix the problem...

If you want CCP to fix the problem, perhaps you should tell them about it?

Probably not, but unfortunately very few players submit bug reports, so it is possible that a problem like this hasn't been noticed by the devs right now, or at least not gotten the attention it deserves.
If you notice a bug, especially one that is affecting your gameplay and that you'd like to see fixed, please always submit a bug report with as many details as possible. Even if you think that bug might have already been reported by someone else.
Submitting a bug report is a much better way to reach the CCP devs than posting here in the forum, the forums are mainly intended for player-to-player communication.

I guess I assumed excessive bug reporting on the same issue is more of a hinderance for CCP...
But I will submit one...

To me this is not an obvious bug. More like a possible game-mechanic design flaw ur sumtin'. Perhaps you should supply us with another tool for submitting this kind of problem. Should help sort the bugs from the "features"....prolly save time for someone..

actually there is another way. called Petitions. can be easily accessed in-game by pressing the esc-button and chosing "petition".

Everyone please bugreport/petition this and maybe they'll fix the restock bug. I just sent mine in, cause as a new player it sucks not to afford this basic skillbook for ages. |

After submitting this problem as a petition I was advised by customer support to "camp one of the educational institutes in the game (like in Yulai and Pator) right after downtime". that I have tried, and have put up buy orders which should be far over the base price, but no luck. It simply doesn't seem to "spawn". The average price of the skill is constantly rising. from being 2M a few weeks ago to almost 3M now everywhere. This is going beyond ridiculous, how difficult can it be to have one developer spend one minute adding Trade to spawning items...

Basicly the npc system works like this.
there is a table of npc stocks. At downtime the server checks each item and it if is below a certain amount it adds the "seed amount" from the "npc stock" table to the current amount. If the item has been selling quickly the price is adjust up a few%. If it took a long time to sell the batch it adjusts it down a few%.
The problem is that sometimes an item is missing from the "npc stock" table.
So in the case of "Trade Skill" (and other bpo, items, and skills in the past) there is no row in the "npc stock" table. So what happens is the trade skill supply reaches 0 and at downtime the server increases all the items from the "npc stock" table but since Trade is missing it never gets added.
The sad part is this isn't a code bug, or a complex issue to solve. Anyone (dev) with access to the database could simply add rows containing the relevent data (item ID, station ID, daily quantity).
CCP would rather spend 1000 man hours implementing the new EW system then spend 10 hours doing "cleanup"
What do I mean by "cleanup"? There are various T1 bpo that simply do not exist. They were never added to the stock table so you can't build them period. There are also some items which npc don't sell, and skills like trade which are missing. Also some ship's bonuses have no effect. Routinely ccp should go throught and check for things like this. They apparently don't.

Edited by: Falbala on 27/02/2005 10:25:40 You want the Trade skill cheap? You start doing mission for the schools corps and you will eventually get some as reward. If you are unlucky you will get Spaceship Command instead lol.
