Originally by: Akita T The only reason Perpetuum doesn't have bots YET is because it's rather small, and there's little incentive to bother with it. Let it become slightly bigger and it's all but guaranteed to start accumulating bots and RMTers galore.
Also, hmm, superior combat and blah blah blah ? Is that why missile users were considered overpowered ?
The only reason Perpetuum doesnt have bots is because it is 1000x harder to make a bot able to move around obsticles which are everywhere. Even if bots were around in Perpetuum they wouldnt get 1/100 as efficient as eve bots that autopilot around with no obsticles and warp to 0 wherever they want.
Also in eve you have bots in 0.0 and lowsec that can read the perfect intel that local gives them. We've all seen those bots that cloak or warp to 0 when a neut enters system.
There will never be perpetuum bots in half the game that has the good resources and is pvp only. If there were bots they would not make near as much as players unlike in eve.
And yes, wsad movement and obsitcles that you cant shoot through make the combat MUCH more fun than EVE. You actually have to keep your own range. You can easily mess up and collide with an obsticle as your trying to escape a fight and in the split second you stopped against something would get you killed cause the enemy in a slower robot can get in range to tackle.
Combat is much better, and much more meaningful with out legit RMT (plex and GTC) and without bots that make EVE the no risk game it is.
Oh noes I lost a battleship that costs half as much as a coffee... better get another gtc.

Just look on the sites I won't list, you'll find a mining bot for the game.
That is a lie. There are no mining bots for perpetuum try harder to troll...
..Unlike EVE where everyone is either botting or funding the botters by selling them plex via GTC.

Suuuuure.... and that's why no first-person-shooter bots exist, amirite or WHAT.
You seriously have no idea what software CAN do these days, do you ? All that junk that SEEMS difficult to you, that's just a few more lines to code extra for. It's the stuff that is actually simple for a human that is difficult for software. The game client knows where the obstacles are because the server tells it so, so all they have to do is intercept that, and the bot can have access to the emulated virtual world. Even a college kid could whip up a bot once that's done. Even if they manage to "proof" the connection and the client so nothing can hook into it, there's always image recognition software. Have you even SEEN what stuff you can do with it nowadays ? ESPECIALLY when you're not talking about random features, but some very specific pixels ?
SERIOUSLY ?!?

I watched a fan fest video where a ccp GM said that the original EVE 3d environment was programmed by some phd maths wizard. He left and it took his successor 6 months to get a good idea of how it worked. EVE is very IO intensive. Though with 8 core Xeon cpu's available in blade servers I would have thought ccp can now really get on top of lag with their 'need for speed' coding.
I am poor at maths for a geek. I can do procedural EVE API code ok but years ago I got a 3d graphics book that started with maths matrix's for wire frame graphics. With my limited attention span my programming ability hit a brick wall with that.

Akita, don't argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
To the OP: Why would you think we would care? If I wasn't having fun playing eve then I wouldn't be playing it! This is coming from someone who has played EVE since 2003. I have taken several breaks from the game, some of them over a year long, and I have played several other MMO's, but I keep coming back to EVE because there is no game like EVE Online! Granted some games have a more active combat system, some games have better balance, some games are more pretty, some games are less tedious, some games are even just downright more fun.... for about a week. But there is NOT ONE SINGLE GAME that has EVERYTHING that EVE has and does ANY of it better.
You can just call me a fanboy now... Oh no you don't! Incoming witty reply, ETA: 300 seconds! |

There are lots of things in Eve that perpetuum doesn't appear to have, other than the more twitch-based combat.
Dying means much more than in eve, because in eve people either bot or buy isk with real money through GTC and plex.
When you kill someone in Perpetuum it means they actually have to play the game to get a new robot.
You kill someone in eve and they run their bot or they spend rl money and replace it like nothing.
You have got to be the stupidest person I've met in 6 years of playing EVE.
I play to pay. I mission hard and use my ISK to buy a PLEX. Losing something in EVE means an awful lot to me, despite your idiotic assertion that "in eve people buy isk". If I lose something, not only do I have to earn enough ISK to replace what I lost, but I then have to work even harder to make up for the time lost earning ISK for my PLEX.
Perhaps you should just go away and play perpetuum, be happy in your unbottable WASD slice of heaven and leave the rest of us to continue enjoying an EVE that is down one idiot.

Seeing CCP could probably put the makers of Perpetuum down with a lawsuit, I doubt it.

WSAD movement, terrain and obsticles that you cant fire through. No more gate camps.
And most of all the devs of Perpetuum are working on the core game, not spacebook or a second life clone.
I wish the eve online development team would work towards similar goals, not things i'm not interested at all in like eve gate and incarna.
This thread is very much on topic, as I'm making a compairson between eve and a similar game I currently play both in hopes CCP will start developing the core of eve and game play elements again.
There are no bots beause the game sucks and there is no money in it Once the bots has a decent RMT potential, they will come.
Other then that it is just a clone of EVE, but the devs are trying to change it up a bit. I for one perfer space over mechs. As for WSAD movement? I could care less. Go play an fps if it is that important to you.
Also, I will happily take your stuff while you play with mechs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
