I'm half-surprised Nashville didn't turn into the lost city of Atlantis, especially after last year. I was out by Vandy all day and the tornado sirens were going on and off like crazy.
Heard Murfreesboro got hit bad, though. Don't click on this. No, really, don't, it'll make your eyes bleed. |

You people really are a little on the dense side aren't you? Perhaps the OP indirectly knows people who live in the affected area of the USA? Perhaps the reason he didn't check in on Japanese players after the earthquake is that he DOESN'T know anyone in Japan.
It really doesn't take an awful lot of brainpower to come up with reasonable answers to your own question does it? Instead you used that time to post in his thread and then whine about his thread in your post. Twerp.

Well, people now like to **** on Americans every chance they get; to be honest, we kinda deserve it. However, I don't think we deserve it any more than any other major nation on earth, but it's getting out of hand. The line between smacktalking on the internet and reality is becoming more and more blurred to the point where people are just being completely rude to Americans they don't even know on the street for no reason at all, and that is very dangerous.
America is a violent nation and we are a violent people for the most part if you cross us. Americans typically love to fight and come from a culture where it's almost a rite of passage. In all seriousness, it's starting to go a little too far. I live in Europe and have yet to be in a situation that came to blows, but if it did, I can tell you walking away wouldn't be first on my list of things to do in said situation. If someone came up to me and started talking the **** that is spewed here sometimes, I'd break their face. People should just be respectful of each other, simple as that.

Much as I love Americans, that kind of attitude is EXACTLY why a lot of Europeans, and in fact people from all over the world, don't like you. You are instantly aggressive and on the defensive. The tone of your post, despite my sticking up for the OP's inquiry into the wellbeing of Americans is one of vitriol and "I'll smash your face in if you look at me funny".
Perhaps if you weren't so stupidly over the top in your attitudes, you might find other people less inclined to be as aggressive toward you. And those who DON'T calm down are the kinds of idiots who just like to be bastards to everyone. It may also help to try and see the rest of the worlds view of the United States, which to say the least is a generally negative one.
Don't misunderstand me however, I have an awful lot of good friends in the US of A, and my own son is being raised there so I have a lot of love for the American people, just for your own sake, stop being so damned over the top ok?

Wow. If anyone's being over the top, it's you. I never said, "I'll smash your face if you look at me funny", nor would I ever condone such abhorrent behavior. What I'm saying is that there is this culture of, "LOL IT'S JUST THE INTERNET!" that people sometimes let carry over into real life without realizing it. I've seen some really, really vulgar, insulting, and horrible behavior on this forum towards Americans and all I'm saying is that were that to happen on the street, they'd probably get a broken nose.
As for me personally, I'm a live and let live kinda guy. If someone is angry at me, I want to try and defuse the situation as quickly as possible because violence isn't the answer all the time. However, I've seen Americans just flat-out harassed while abroad...what I'm saying is that Europeans will just shake it off but Americans might not always do that...it can be a dangerous situation. Not all of us are idiotic meatheads but some of us are.
However, people should just be respectful of each other, plain and simple. If you harass and disrespect someone who hasn't done anything to you, I really find it difficult to feel sorry for you when it turns into trouble. That goes for everyone on the planet. |

Ok? Maybe I misunderstood both of these sentences then. You are right about one thing, people take stuff too far. Im English, if I go to the USA I get accused by one bunch of Americans of being a colonialist and told to go away in a very unpolite fashion, and by another group I get accused of being nothing short of a slave to the USA. Confusing no?
None of that bothers me much though to be honest, you get idiots wherever you go, which is also something my country is very good at along with half of Europe sadly. Also we seem to have gone rapidly OFF subject, lol, and ended up de-railing this poor mans thread.
On that note I would like to add that I've spoken with some friends in the Nashville area from just north of Nash down to Murfreesboro and while there has sadly been a large loss of life, many others have been a lot more fortunate. With a bit of luck these frequent and huge tornadoes will give the 3 affected states a break.
EDIT: Spelling error, apparently my brain thinks "Aslo" is a word (second edit being to edit the word edit, which I somehow managed to mess up on)

No you understood correctly. If someone's angry at me I'll try and defuse the situation by rationally and calmly speaking to them as long as things don't get personal and insulting. If the person is just going to rant and rave then I'm just going to remove myself from the situation. Get in my face and personally insult me, however, and that'll get you a bop on the nose. When I say insult, I don't mean, "hey, you idiot!"...I mean really hateful, mean, personal insults. I'll give you an example:
I had a car accident not too long ago where I was turning left and a motorcycle rider was passing me on the left. I turned left suddenly because I was in a village at a very slow speed and I didn't see him passing me. I should've looked in the rearview mirror before I turned but I didn't and he ended up colliding with my front left quarter panel. It was completely his fault as he was passing on the left in a no-passing zone at a high rate of speed in a village of 50 km/h. However, the poor guy saw his life flash in front of his eyes when he hit my car, sailing over my hood and luckily he only got a small sc**** on his elbow that didn't even need a bandage when he hit the ground. He was so scared when he got up that he didn't even realize where he was, threw his helmet at me and started to go off. He was visibly shaking and I knew immediately he was in shock. I let him say whatever he wanted, got out of my car, went up to him and got in his face in order to calm him down and knock him out of the state he was in. He then realized what had happened and tried to apologize, but being a rider myself, I know what it's like to have close calls. I sat him down, told him not to worry about it, made sure he wasn't injured, and helped him fill out the accident form and call his insurance company. That was an extremely volatile situation that could've turned even uglier, but restraint is key. Lose your cool and it's all over. He even shoved me when he confronted me but I knew he was in shock. Afterwards he profusely apologized but there was no need. Accidents happen and I'm not a mean person who looks for fights. I was well within my rights to strike back but didn't because that wouldn't have defused the situation. He didn't just come up to me and start berating me like other people have, even though he physically assaulted me...he was in shock. It wasn't a matter of disrespect because he was scared to death, and I felt sorry for him. Had he been some dude on the street looking to get in my face, it would've been a different story.
Back on track, all my friends are ok from that part of the country as well as the players I know, luckily. Thank goodness for that! Condolences to anyone involved in these storms or any lives maimed or lost. I hope everyone is ok!

People hate the US because its the fashionable thing to do and they cannot see passed the TV news, which only shows what our government is screwing up around the world. And the way our corporations treat the world as well. of course our Corporations now own our government and hold more power than any citizens. we are not far from becoming Caldari in retrospect. the rate things are going here in the US we are on course for your life literally belonging to a megacorporation.

Everyone has stereotypes such as all Americans are stupid, the English are all self-absorbed pricks with no culinary skills, Germans are frigid, compartmentalized buzzkills, all French are *******s, etc., but the stereotypes are indicative of how ignorant people are all over the world. Where there's 10% truth, there's 90% exaggeration. But as for trolling, yes, it would be quite tasteless in this case.

Seeing whole towns and whole parts of towns wiped out by what is nothing more than a tube made of wind goes to show just how fragile our constructs are in life.
