I've heard that one of the problems with mining bots is that once they get banned for botting they just simply sell their character on the character bazaar. This offloads a character involved in botting which is possibly known to the community but possibly not to the purchasing individual. This is not fair to the person who bought the character since this is a legal in game feature. It also provides a means for the offending person to offload a character which is being watched by ccp and to pick up a new one for the price of the transfer fee and continue doing what they were doing on a new account.
My suggestion is that once a character recieves a ban it sets up a flag which makes it so that the character cannot be traded anymore and must be kept on the account or be deleted. This would make sure that the botting character stays on the botters account and makes it easier to track these actions in the future. This would also introduce a bit of accountability to the actions of players since their actions would produce long lived effects on their accounts. And since it is more difficult to train the botting characters to be effective in botting than it is to purchase a new character it may curtail some of the issues.
Alternatively you could make the flag public somewhere on affected characters such that they would then be marked and the community would do much of the observation to make sure the character is staying straight. Kinda like some cultures marking convicted criminals for their actions so others can monitor their actions.

Yes, supported. Maybe also use IP ban for the original user of the macro/bot? Buying/trading/etc a new account would not allow them to continue their illicit activities. I do like that last part... probation.
How about also making them marked as criminals to everybody when placed on probation? They remain on probation for a month, allowing anyone to kill them and pod them, unless they stay docked.

IP bans have been suggested a lot in response to botting. The problem is that it will not work against the tech aware botters and will block a lot of legitimate users.
A lot of countries ISP's use dianamic IP addresses. This means that if you turn off your connection and then turn it back on you you assigned a new IP address. So blocking the old one wil have no effect.
Also a lot of big universities and some ISP/Countries funnel all there traffic though gateway addresses. All CCP will see is the gateway IP address, so if they ban a botter at a university that does this they effectively block every player at that university.
As for the original idea, CCP watch the accounts and all the characters on them, If you buy an ex botter character CCP will watch it for a bit and as long at it does not appear to be running as a bot or interacting with its old associates the flag will be cleared. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

I agree, the idea of IP banning doesn't work for the reasons specified. I have myself been unable to use certain services in the past because someone in my ISP had recieved an IP ban which affected me as well even though I had nothing to do with it. If I was unable to play eve because CCP had IP banned my ISP I would be quite angry about it since I pay money to use this service and indirectly recieving a ban myself for the actions of others does not look good on them.
As for CCP monitoring traded accounts my idea is to make people who bot be more responsible for their actions, not being able to simply offload a character and buy a new one is more of a deterrence than simply recieving a ban. Quite possibly the swift and constant retribution from the community may be a deterrrence as well.

how about an idea to allow maco mining. just that once attacked in high sec concord wont show up. Unless a person presses some form of distress popup. Pop up showing up on random screen positions. Make concord remote repair shield armor to the victim to balance the delay to cry for concord to save you. may free up bottlenecks. However it will make afk auto travel very risky even with macro or what ever people use. Will reduce the afk people flying around and people exploiting the game. (ONCE YOU GET ATTACKED CONCORD SENDS YOU A MESSAGE to assist and all you have to do is accept it and help spawns. If auto pilot has been active for more then 10 min it auto accepts. how about also make it part of insurance better insurance better spawn :)
