Edited by: Aamrr on 02/05/2011 09:30:44 Just a few minor issues...
1) Damage control is a PvP module, and even there it's questionable. You shouldn't ever hit structure. Leave it at home. 2) Resists are too low. Damage control doesn't come close to matching what a second invuln gives. 3) Medium extender doesn't add enough to be useful. Fit a large. 4) Lose the sensor booster, as logis have adequate scan resolution already. If you need more cap, add a cap recharger. If you don't, you can offer a tracking link.
Here's a nice cheap fit. Full rack of 4 reps, speed tank, good resists, and cap stable. [Scimitar, Cheap]

I've never encountered tracking issues with a logi ship (I fly Scimi and Basi), so I'm trying to understand why you recommend a tracking link?

Fits I ran for incursions:
Logi lvl 4: 4 Large S95a partial shield transporters 1 AB 2 Invulns 1 tracking link 1 cap recharger 2 1 PDU 2 3 cap power relay 2 2 cap control circuits
Permaruns with logi 4 and shield emission system 4. Drones were usually either light shield bots or mining drones to run mining colonies with. Warning, it is squishy, and you ALWAYS need to stay moving to stay alive. Works well for vanguards, only run it in assaults/HQ's if there are a few basi's to take the role of primary...
Logi lvl 5: 4 Large S95a partial shield transporters 1 AB 2 Invulns 1 large shield extender 1 cap recharger 2 1 DCU 2 3 cap power relay 2 2 ACR
Permaruns with lvl 5 logi and lvl 5 shield emission systems, fitting is very tight, but it has the advantage of actually having a buffer. As for DCU over something else, the unstacked shield resist bonus is why it is there, not for armor/structure resist. Technically, you could replace it with something else, but it does have a very noticeable impact on the survivability. This one also has enough buffer to survive being primaried in assaults/HQ's.

Can't really comment on the logi 4 fitting, but I find it somewhat unusual that your logi 4 fit contributes MORE to the gang than the logi 5 fit does -- both of them give 4 large reps, but the logi 5 fit drops the tracking link.
Rather strange, don't you think?
All due respect, but a Scimitar has some of the lowest structural hit points of any cruiser. The damage control doesn't do much for it. If you insist upon using the three slots on resists, a triple invuln gives a better shield buffer than 2x invuln and damage control -- and since the capacitor power relay gives more capacitor than a cap recharger, the cost of running the third invuln is essentially free.

The logi 4 fit I posted may contribute more to the gang... but it is also incrediably squishy. As in, 4 romi's in a mining colony blast through half its shields in one volley. The logi 5 fit allows buffer, making it actually useful in sites larger than vanguards. But, I rarely fly logi's anymore.

Edited by: Aamrr on 03/05/2011 03:02:21 That's exactly my point. It seems unrealistic that you've managed to squeeze on a tracking link onto a logi 4 scimitar, but can't find a reasonable point of survivability to get one on the logi 5 scimitar.
It's not as if the rats suddenly get more deadly when you get that last rank in the skill.
What I'm trying to say is either you need the survivability of the level 5 scimitar, and the logi 4 fitting should use that midslot to improve its defenses, or you don't, and the logi 5 scimitar should be fitting a tracking link.
Edit: Especially since logi 4 pilots are more or less guaranteed to be less experienced than their logi 5 counterparts, and therefore need a larger margin of error.

A good vanguard fit is not a good assault/HQ fit. Vanguards have much lower DPS and volley damage, so you can forgo the buffer. The logi 4 fit would also work with logi 5, but the logi 5 fit is useful in a much wider set of circumstances.

The logi 4 fit does not work in assaults, the logi 5 fit does. In assaults, the rats DO suddenly get more deadly

The 2 fits serve 2 different purposes.

It's really more the OTHER logi's skill that gets called into question here. If you have no real buffer then the other logi is the one who has to be on the ball to keep you from going boom. |

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions! I decided to go for the LSEII version without the tracking link. I believe that my survivability is more important for the fleet than tracking boost. Shield gangs tend to be drakes anyway..

A decent enough fit. Awfully conservative, but then Scimitars are more squishy than Basilisks. Just one question: Do you really need the faction afterburner? If T2 won't fit, a y-s8 is almost certainly sufficient.

With afterburners, it's usually a question of speed, more than anything else.
The reason you fit an AB to begin with, especially on a low-sig ship like a Logistic, is to speed-tank, and you want as much speed as possible. Faction ABs offer more of that. Unlike MWDs, the differences in cap draw and fitting aren't all that significant, but the difference in speed is. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |
