Originally by: Opie Winston IÆve finally found an enjoyable way for me to make some decent isk, and am now looking for a way to spend it in my down time. Thought for a short time about pursuing a stealth bomber role, but to be honest, I have no combat aspirations. Too much to know and IÆm not near competitive enough.
I like to do ôsneaky sneakyö stuff though, and I love providing information. My blockade runner is by far my favorite ship. What kinds of things could I do? IÆve been a dedicated care bear since the beginning, with a short stint living in WHÆs and a short stint in 0.0. I LOVE needing to be stealthy.
Any ideaÆs what I could do? IÆm interested in pretty much anything that involves a covert ops ship.
Some say a covert ops frig is boring. This might be true for your typical PvP adrenaline junkie, but there are a lot of thing you can do with one. I have been running some low-sec courier missions in mine just to make some extra ISK. In warfare, having a scout is crucial for any fleet, and covert ops frigs make the best scouts. Check out what ships the enemy are flying, scan out their location, drop some tactical bookmarks. You won't get on any killmails but you WILL be the deciding factor in winning or losing that battle. You will also learn a lot about ship types, PvP and so on.
I suppose you could also hire yourself out as a 'Private detective'. A boring and tedious for many people maybe, but necessary nonetheless. If you are war decced it's essential to know EVERYTHING about your enemy. This means the names of everyone in their corp, what ships they fly, what stations they frequent, who their weaker players and stronger players, the names of their alts, the names of any Indy 'carebear' support corps that do their mining and manufacturing for them, what market items they are buying or selling, where they mission, etc. The only way to win a war in EVE is to hit the enemy in their wallets. Too often with PvP'ers this is interpreted as just blowing up their ships, but to really put the sting on an enemy you have to cut off their sources of revenue as well.
If you choose to go this route, I would advise you to remain 'clean' and refrain from putting alts in their corp, thieving their hangars, etc.
Stealth bombers can be pretty useful for 'private detective' work, and/or some profitable level 4 PVE missions too. A stealth bomber can take out a battleship, and cloak up again if the going gets rough. Great for wormhole corps, where the scanning is absolutely essential.
Cloaky haulers are pretty cool too. Hauling stuff into low sec or null sec in a cloaky hauler is fun and profitable, with a lot less risk than PvP. You could be a speculative hauler if you like trading. This stuff is pretty boring too, but with a huge potential for profits. You could form a 'Logistics support' corporation for a PvP corp or Alliance, especially one in Null sec. Bring in much needed goods and supplies in a cloaky T2, use your SB to 'instapop' the enemy DPS ships while providing mining support, do reconnaissance/ scouting in your Covert ops frigate.
