CELEBRATIONS AS NEW WORLDSHIP FLEET EMBARKS TO THE FRONTIER
Octanneve - Citizens across Solitude and the wider Federation have flocked in the thousands to witness the Ouranos Frontier Fleet embark on its journey to uncharted regions of the cluster. Heading through Fountain, it is hoped that one day it will arrive in the system designated TR-361, and ultimately colonize the surrounding constellations for future settlement of what is presumed to be a new region beyond the galactic west. The journey to their final destination will take many decades, and it will be expected to reach TR-361 no earlier than the year 190.
The fleet, which cost countless trillions to construct, is a microcosm of the greater Federation itself. Centering on five titan-sized worldships, the Ouranos I through V, she will carry a working government based on the Gallentean model, along with auxiliary institutes to support the bureaucratic functions of each vessel. The Federation Navy has commissioned the Ouranos Guardian Force to escort the fleet on its long journey, headed by Admiral Sheryl Alonsai from her Nyx-class flagship, the FNS Heaven's Watchman. In addition, major megacorporations, including Roden Shipyards, CreoDron and Duvolle Laboratories, have invested heavily in the project, and possess many interests and holdings on each of the five Ouranos worldships, along with countless other corporations and smaller firms.
Built to the same specification for each, the Ouranos worldships use the latest in Gallentean space habitation technology to create the illusion that one is not in space at all, using similar techniques employed on space stations and subterranean colonies (a more notable example including the former Seyllin I). Each vessel will have four "cities", representing every major member of the Federation. A Hueromont/Caille hybrid, Lenoika, Raspa and Chengshi have all been recreated, although not to their fullest extent due to size limitations. Citizens of all ages and all professions have been selected from millions of applicants from across the Federation, filling in public service roles such as teachers and police, to the private postings offered by the corporations invested in the fleet.
Veena en Ruuta, the first Frontier President, spoke to the assembled crowd in Orvanne, detailing her hopes for the Ouranos Fleet. "Our Federation is a vision, and is not confined to the borders imposed by humanity alone. It is our hope that we will carry the ideas and beauty of our great nation and all our peoples to the stars beyond, and create a future for our children on worlds untouched by the callous hands of man". She noted the sentimental decision to choose Solitude as symbolic, as the region was colonized in a very similar fashion during the early days of the Federation.
However, many have been critical of the project, stating that it is a "colossal waste of finances" and a "huge mistake", noting the resurgent threat posed by Sansha's Nation. Admiral Alonsai was quick to defend the Guardian Force, stating it will be more than adequate to protect the fleet from harm. Scientists have also criticized the use of the term "worldship", believing that the size of the vessels are not great enough to constitute the first incarnation of what has mostly been a creation of science fiction media. While dissent is strong, the Ouranos Frontier Fleet has massive support from the general public. She is expected to arrive in Fountain at the end of the month, and will be escorted by an additional Federation Navy fleet before she leaves the edge of the charted cluster towards the turn of the year. ------------------------------------------------- Aicar Leuscirh Capsuleer Affairs Correspondent The Scope |

A bold undertaking. Credit where due, and congratulations to the Federation. I sincerely hope apprehensions prove unfounded. A pity they could not have escaped the calamity of our cluster more quickly.

They might have picked a wiser exit region, but otherwise agreed.
If ORE put out an explorer designed to set off for the actual unknown, rather than the unknown(for-the-last-several-hours), I'd gather my bunnies, load a bootstrap colony into cargo, head up for twenty or two hundred light years, and hang a left.
Even so, it is pleasant to think of a new civilization starting over, far from us in time and place. They have the opportunity to learn from our mistakes (even if they are Gallente... hah!), should they choose to take advantage of that gift.

Well thatĘs weird, I live in Solitude and most of my activities is concentrated around Octanneve and it's the first time i hear about Ouranos Frontier Fleet. And this isn't an event one could not even notice.

During the early days of the Federation, the settlers and colonizers, terraformers and adventurers were not afraid of the dangers hidden by the darkness of space. They were brave and resolute, they went courageously ahead and gallantly faced the misfortunes and disappointments which the universe presented to them. Their fortitude turned this Galaxy into the flourishing garden of well-being it is today.
If people everywhere would be aware of safety, freedom and democracy, we would have no wars, no misery: wealth and prosperity would prevail. Spreading the Gallentean influence across the Galaxy to areas which have been less successful than us is an noble goal, worth everyone's unconditional support. In my view, the colony ship effort continues this tradition and hopefully establishes a permanent presence to underused areas near the Solitude.
The ability of Admiral Alonsai is indisputable. She is a great leader, in the best military tradition of the Federation. The safety of the Ouranos fleet is in good hands, like it should be in an effort of this scale. Having private and public sectors as partners in this project is also laudable, the collaboration is likely to lead to increases in well-being also inside the Federation. The wisdom of the crowds should not be underestimated: frontier fleets are a good use of resources.

Why of course you will, you are really powerful and fully willing to demonstrate that by single-handedly attacking 5 titan-class vessels with an accompanying capital, battleship and support fleet, are you not?
Spare me. What you mean is, you and your corporation and/or alliance and friends will try to kill a fleet carrying hundreds of thousands whose crime consists of seeking a new home, in order to loot the remains of their ships for any functional module, weapon or ammunition still present, as well as any materials you may use. And you will do this because such an act will make you feel imortant and powerful and the spoils will be great... for your wallets.
In all honesty I will wish this fleet the very best of luck, and hope they make short-work of any self-important eggers out for a swift payment on everyone else's cost.
My best wishes, brave pioneers.

Knowing the nullsec alliances busy to fight each other or growing fat quietly in their belts, there is a good probability for them to even miss the convey anyhow, despite its size.
In any way, they prove once again their uselessness to the society. |
