Hello fellow capsuleers,
I am a person that is conducting a variety of businesses in many different places in new eden. Sometimes I do stop for a while in one place to mine some ore, to raise standings for a certain corp by running missions or because I have found a good area for exploration. Each time I decide to move it - it means moving a few ships - and to do that I have to fly one ship, return in a pod, bring another ship, again return in pod and so on. It is not a big problem if it is x<10 jumps but as the distance grows the whole process means hours of boredom.
Repackaging ships and putting them into a freighter is also not an option as there are rigs (including t2 versions) fitted into my ships. Also as I operate almost exclusively in high sec - the use of ships with big (can fit 2 battleships) ship maintenance arrays is also not an option.
I therefore came up with an idea of t2 capital ORE industrials. Not only do they help people moving stuff but also enable them to use "station" features like corp hangar without having an office on a station. Take a look below.
----- Mobile Bases. Based on Orca Hull. Mobile Bases are able to use stargates and are unable to use jump drives. -----
----- Mobile Office (Diplodocus) Description: MO serves only as a massive ship-transportation-device and mobile station hangar. It is highly specialised in moving fitted ships in its huge ship maintenance bay. Unfortunately that leaves no room for any other specialised equipment.
Role Bonus: Can be accessed by corporation members with specific roles while docked at station (even if pilot is offline). In order to be accessible pilot must connect the ship to station's transport network. Connected MO's must pay a fee depending on standings with station owners.
Industrial Command Ship Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to cargo capacity per level 5% bonus to agility per level
Mobile Base Operation Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to ship maintenance bay and corporate hangar capacity per level 5% bonus to velocity per level
Attributes other than those of Orca: Ship Maintenance Bay Capacity 1500000 m3 Corporate Hangar Capacity 10000m3 Cargo Capacity 10000m3 NO fittable SLOTS LIKE IN FREIGHTERS MATERIAL COST - 75% that of an Orca + t2 crap. -----
----- Mobile Field Base (Brachiosaurus) Description: MFB is designed to provide basic station services in areas where there is a limited access these services. Diplodocus may be deployed in space. Once deployed pliot may leave the ship - only he or anyone with a password may board it again. If it runs out of fuel then only the owner may board it.
Role Bonus: Can be deployed almost anywhere in space. Consumes fuel when in deployed mode. Can be accessed by corporation members while deployed. CANNOT be deployed in grid where there are any stationary objects (large collidable structures, ateroids, player owned structures, stations, stargates). When shield drops below 1% ship enters reinforced mode like POS (lasts maximum 3 hours).

As for required skills... I would not go hardcore so only an additional Mobile Base Operation lvl1 would be required in addition to Orca requirements. There may be more expanded versions of mobile bases made for rorqual aswell :)

The basic idea has been suggested before.
As for the transporting the ships, set up a courier contract with a alt, this raps the ship and the package can be freighter. The ship in question can fully armed and read for combat at the other end of trip.
Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |
