From all the Quafe Zero title scams out there today, this could be a good chance to see all the ways scammers work in the contracting area.

This a good habit to keep up both in and out of game. It is not limited to just Quafe Zero. Be vigilant, but stay open to other players. Once you find people you can trust, the game gets that much better.

Yeah ... one of the classic scams is selling you a ship with all the fittings for a really good price. You look at the contract and sure enough all the fittings are there ... and some nice ones too ... it's just that there isn't actually a ship ...

Are they selling Quafe Ultra instead of Quafe Zero?

.
Search for contract by the name of the ship that you want. On the item type option - select "ship". This virtually solves the problem completely.
But, yes....always be vigilant.

You mean like that idiot that keeps spamming Jita (and surrounding system's) Local every 30 seconds with the "Navy Issue Raven - 500-Mil ISK, MUST SELL FAST!" contract and it's only a regular Raven?
The more you know...

May I suggest that all new players take the time to fly to Jita and then click on all the contracts that are being spammed in local.
99.9% of these are a scam!
Spend some time clicking on some and work out why/how each one is a scam. You will learn what to look out for when you are actualy in the market to buy something. ------------------------ Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager / Explorer / SpaceBum "I've got a couple of Strippers on my ship... and they just love to dance!" ------------------------ |

The Jita scams that amazingly enough works is the "I am leaving the game - send money and I'll double it back/tripple it back/keep it all and tell you f*** off" (delete what's not applicable)
And the variation; I'm buying 1 unit of Trit for X ISK, which is (ofcourse) the other way round - you are buying 1 unit of Trit for hilarious amounts of ISK.

Of course, always use a contract and NEVER use the trade window to exchange stuff with someone you don't completely trust. There are a lot of trade window scams that are impossible to avoid.

I once bought an Ishkur instead of the Ishtar I wanted to buy because I didn't read the contract carefully enough.

There is a similar scam that tries to get you to buy one unit of Carbon instead of a Charon freighter. But by the time you can pilot a freighter, you should be able to spot this one. ----- Your Plain Text Cookie perfectly strikes New Forums, wrecking for inifnite damage. |
