The 2 biggest mistakes CCP ever made.
1 The addition of jump abilities(drives and bridges).
2 The addition of bubbles.
Bubbles necessitate jumping. Its one over powered ability to counter another over powered ability.
The game would be 100X better if people actually had to haul freight - giving pirates real targets. And it would be much better if it took a modicum of skill to make a gank.
The changes to jump bridges are nice I guess but its p---ing on a forest fire.

I'm relatively confident that bubbles existed before jumpdrives were introduced. Also, here's a thought... WHAT IF bubbles would prevent not just jumping out, but also jumping in within their radius ?

CCP got 8 years out of a very simple game. I give them full credit for imagination and originality. I don't have any doubt they will get another 7 or 8 out of it. How popular those years are is up for debate.
Not an endorsment but I can say there are gold farmers out there who are under cutting GTCs by a substantial amount. When it gets cheaper to buy a throw away account, buy ISK to buy GTCs and then apply them to a playing account? CCP will take a big quarterly hit and will be forced to scramble and make bad design decisions to remedy the situation.
Mistake? Allowing the macro situation to get to where it is. It damages the reason CCP took the Plex route, one that was very risky and noble on thier part, one that I'd like to see them keep but one they need to address with more than silly nerfs to ISK flow. |

Gameplay wise, Jumpdrives are certainly on that list. Jumpbridges need to be removed, jumpdrives and bridging capable ships need to be restrained in their range and ease of use.

I must agree. Jump stuff made the universe incredibly small. Why not bring back the highsec highways as well?

Those aren't the worst.
The boot ini was the worst. Possibly second worst was the patch that removed local for the time it was up (which wasn't long...).
The greatest flaw in the current system isn't jumpbridges. It is the tools that were removed that would have made jumpbridges unsafe without scouts. I'm talking about mines. They were long ago removed by CCP rather than fixing an issue where if you put them up and then went to high sec and someone hit them you got concorded.
Reimplementation of Mines would go a long way to fix jumpbridges if you also provided a transport that could deliver them complete with covert ops etc. Level 3 Transport Deep Space Minelayer (no covert cloak, +2 WCS etc) and a Deep Penetration Minelayer (covert ops cloak etc).
However it is easier to nerf Jump bridges than to actually provide new ships and tools to deal with them, it is the cycle all games fall into once they stop devoting dev time to the actual game and put them on future projects of the corporation (WoD and DUST for CCP)

Truth. There are two sides to the EVE community; those that scream for change and those that scream against it. Often they are the same person. |

Boot.ini and not firing t20.
I would be the last person the want to belittle the incompetence in those 2 situations.
I guess I should have said "CCPs 2 worst choices" or something to that effect.

Fully agreed. We don't need highways outside highsec. Shouldn't nulsec be risky and far away?
