I'm curious what regular mission runners have seen.
After the anomolie nerf (ok you don't do anomolies but lets say a few weeks ago) have you noticed a suddenly greater average number of people in local in the systems you normally run missions in ?

The market forum is talking of indications in price changes that would be directly related to an increase in mission runners. Things like LP values being reduced and some of the ship prices changing.

OTOH, there has been at least some anecdotal evidence that more agents are being run in NPC null.

To be honest the last weeks there seem to be lss people in the systems where i run lvl 4missions, could be the weather tho, but i see definitely see less people, example is shuria in domain on sunday evenings crowds of 90 or more people last weekend barely 50 ________________________________________ Minmatar are like jedi knights, we use ductape as our force, it has a darkside and a sticky side

This may be a very small sample to help answering your question, but 80% of the people in my main's alliance who were running sanctums are now in empire running missions instead (yes, my alliance holds space in >-0.2 sec null). I might be going too far saying that this is a general trend, but I'm personally convinced it is. I hadn't been running missions pre-nerf to compare system population, but I'm pretty much convinced this is the case. I have to confess I kinda missed the ability to run around firing at rats with a 1.5 bil. ship and no care in the world.

Edited by: Goose99 on 13/05/2011 14:31:33 90% of Eve population is in empire. Rest split evenly between wh, npc null and sov null. Even if a large part of sov null moves back to empire, and there's no indication this is the case, empire population changes will still be insignificant.

That may be the case years ago, but no longer true. In empire, any number of gray apoc/abaddon/mael/hyperion/whatever else that's sitting around can gank you. There is no safety. It's not like sov null, where in some places within the deep blue ass of large alliances, you don't see a single non-blue for weeks on end, and when you do, there's local and intel channels to give plenty warnings about the afk cloaker. In addition, the risks to larger sov null alliances in empire are amplified by presence of wardecs by highsec pvp corps. Empire is far more risky than your comfortable sov null home.

Actually i find that a pretty common misconception... While empire is defenitely as dangerous as you say and its hard to see the dangers coming large alliances nullsec isnt quite as safe as you think With all wars going on constantly theres a lot of roams, fleets, and small gangs going through the spaces ganking poor innocent ratters. its defenitely not that much safer then empire and requires constant attention if anything.

This has been do to a dedicated campaign by major powers to counteract NC's tech moons.

It's 80%. Read the QEN. Even then, most of that is newbies and trade/manufacturing alts, so I wouldn't really call it "population".

Server population always takes a dip this time of year. People look out the window, see sunshine and react accordingly.

Yes, by 20 - 30.
They insult locals while sitting outside of the station for hours on end, as everyone around them makes obscene amounts of isk. When they're not doing that they ninja salvage and grief new players.
It's comical. |
