Originally by: Kor Shivat I appreciate the fact CCP has given away new content going many years, now. But there does seem to be a problem satisfying the (many) demands of (many) different game segments. I for one would pay forty bucks for an expansion here, just as I have in other games, on the understanding this gives a developer resources to, well, expand.
You could even take a page from the game's marketing hype, and let cold hard cash decide what to build. Offer pre-orders:
$40 buys you access to dedicated large-fleet combat space with servers switches and packet sniffers galore.
$40 buys you access to dedicated small-fleet combat space where nothing bigger than a cruiser gets in and fleets are of limited size.
$40 buys you access to dedicated mission space where CONCORD has scrambled target locks on non pirate faction ships and disabled smart bombs.
$40 buys you access to dedicated exploration space where the scans are particularly difficult but you are the only one there.
Build what generates the biggest pool of money.
There are several things that would instantly ruin Eve and it would eventually die off in months, paid expansion is on the top of the list.

The fact you want to kill EVE does not buy you an excuse for your topic. It's a Blizzard way to endorse and promote inequality, differentiate players by their budget and overall kill the game experience for all. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Worst idea ever.
This is the kind of bad idea that encourages people like me to not bother coming back when I take a break.
When Im burned out i ussually keep my sub scription going and skill snipe then in 4 or 5 months I come back and play full time. If I realize I have to drop another $50 or $100 dollars one of these times when I come back Im probably just going to go play something else.
Wherever you went - Here you are.

CCP already charges for expansions at the rate of $15 USD per month. Less if you are foolish enough to pre-pay for a year.
If CCP were to try to pull off what you are wanting they would have to be capable of delivering polished and completed content on a deadline. Given CCP's track record, and the fact they believe half-finished new features are better for obtaining new subscriptions than polished and completed content, your first desire should be that CCP sell EVE to someone capable of producing paid expansions with completed and fully functional content.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.' |

Nope..wouldn't do it. They don't need money, what they need is the desire to invest it in eve instead of WOD or Dust.

So basically, OP wants to take away most of makes EVE unique and turn it into another WoW clone (but in spaaaaaace!) right?
Life in New Eden is unfair, fights even less so, get used to it or turn in your pilot license. There are two sides to the EVE community; those that scream for change and those that scream against it. Often they are the same person. |
