I often look out the windows of stations when I have a moment to spare, walking along the ways, staring out into space, watching the moons, planets, even the stars go about their peaceful, subtle existence. Conversing with pedestrians who stop to look out with me, occasionally one or two asking me what I see before going on about their lives. Watching how the ships float in space, other capsuleers going about their lives just as I had been doing before taking a break.
No matter what station in what sector of space, I always find myself captivated and humbled, even more so when I am able to learn more of the local cultures, histories, something that I can take with me and share to others of New Eden in my travels.
With this spirit I will be starting on a journey that will hopefully take me all across New Eden, not under my current banner, of course, as there are those who will wrongfully be unable to see past that. I do not have an end goal in mind in terms of destination, and will go to wherever I end up and where the words of others will take me. It is with that in which I will leave myself open to suggestions. Suggest places in which I should stay and experience, to travel and converse.
My main goal is to enjoy life, enjoy New Eden, experience it, and to help bring a bit of happiness to everyone I come across. I will be taking logs of my travels, so I can share my experience with the rest of New Eden. For where the logs will be posted, Click Here!
I Will make a post upon my start of my journey, and will always do my best to make the races in the Racing League, but I am aware there may be times when I wont be able to. Who knows?
See you around New Eden,

May your journey be a pleasant one and may the wind be constantly at your back. Always remember it is the journey that matters, not the destination. Enjoy new sensations, new places, new things, and new ideas. I look forward to reading your logs.

I don't really have any suggestions except for Seyllin I and the EVE Cemetery. Those are places that make me reflect on life.

Edited by: Lyn Farel on 14/05/2011 23:03:15 I wish you well in your journey. I have done this in the past, and it is one of the few ways to step back, watch, and learn.
There is so many places to see, and a lot of them are already very famous (like Crystal Boulevard, the City of God, etc), and some other ones are marked on our capsuleer maps. I may suggest you to stop at some point in the Uriok solar system in the Ani constellation, and take a look at the Amarr-Minmatar cultural center (either called by the locals as the Cultural Recess). Very enriching.
Best regards, Farel. |

Taking the time to travel about the cluster, mindfully taking in all that the various peoples and places have to offer, has been the single best investment of my life. Good luck to you, and may it be just as enriching. I find that the best experiences happen where you least expect them, so don't underestimate the value of the commonplace in your travels. The major travel hotspots are little more than horse and pony shows.

Dewgong,
I don't know you that well, and my interactions with you have been rather limited to co-sponsoring the racing league. However, I'd like to take the opportunity to wish you well on your journey. Everyone (even an old foe) should have the opportunity to freely travel the stars and see what's out there. I look forward to daily dispatches about your 'free-space' adventure.

Thank you all every much for your support!
I have started on my journey, the first two days have been quite a trek, and there has been lots to see and reflect on! The logs can be found here. Eventually I hope to be taking more detailed logs, and if so, more frequent. Please again feel free to suggest places I should fly through! I'm sorry that your experience at the University and at Ney was so strained. As an University of Calle graduate, I can assure you that we are generally not unfriendly or incurious. Granted, prior to becoming a capsuleer, my experiences were mostly in the fine arts and literary schools, but the exploration of new sensations and the expansion of knowledge is something that the University has always embraced. Maybe it was, as you said, your encounter with the Raiders that put you on your guard. I'm sorry I wasn't there when you were there, we could have met for dinner and I could have shown you around and introduced you to some very nice and engaging professors and students.
Perhaps next time? In any event, I'm glad you and your crew escaped your encounter relatively unscathed and I look forward to more of your accounts. "Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies."

In your journey, I would highly recommend a stopover here in Khanid. Khanid-Prime is a wonder to behold, especially as you come through the gate to see the lights of the many cities blazing from the planet below.
You might then want to visit the markets of Palas, Kihtaled and Agil. Finally, you could come out to the borderlands and visit the Aman Sah station on the edge of Querious.
May god fly with you on your travels!

Many thanks for your kind wishes and suggestions! I do appreciate them all! So far I have seen a great deal and learned a lot! Yet I cannot stop but think I may have previously over looked something, so I will probably have to come back through some of these places a second time! Especially if I ever want to see some of the Lutinari Lights!
After passing through a relatively small section of State space, I find myself on the border of Syndicate. We are in Orvolle for the night, a final good rest before we begin the trek into deep space. I can only hope we do not run into much trouble, for if we do, I hope I can bargain out of it with the supplies we have. An interesting development to say the least, as the ship idles in a safe spot in the middle of a system in Aridia, Solitude was something of a hidden treasure. In addition to my logs, I would like to add that while it has no high security route back to the main space lanes, the fact that the region's people have lived at such a relative peace sheds a bit of a new light on some of the outer Regions. Perhaps it's just an Oasis in the sea of dunes, or perhaps it's just an island slightly off from the mainland? Behind the mysterious spaces of Syndicate and the desolate Aridia regions, lies one of New Eden's few untainted Paradises. Oh, I forgot to ad this last time, because I thought it was obvious, but I also find the Ishukone HQ in Malkalen a good place for reflection.

A very moving account, sounds like you were unlucky, as well as the cloaking problem were you also stuck in a dictor bubble?
Hope your future travels fair better! If youÆre looking for somewhere away from the bustle of high sec or the savagery of low security space I'd suggest taking a look inside real unexplored territory: Wormhole systems. There's no where more mysterious and lonely than sleeper infested frontier space. It's dangerous but as an experienced explorer I'm more than happy to give you a guided tour and of course the safety of you and your crew will be my upmost concern.

Captain Dewgong,
I have spoken little with you, but I have found those conversations to be pleasant and level. I will join with those here in mourning the loss of life and ship and will pray that you are given protection over the remainder of your journey, for as long as that may be. As always, I am open for conversation or visit if you find yourself passing my way.

I thank you all for your kind words for the ones we lost. Perhaps one day I might be fortunate to see them again, as we traverse areas that dig up some glorious as well as dreadful memories. My mind is consumed by the past, in an uneasiness that I cannot wait to be rid of. It's hard to keep a daily or, as is the case here, regularly occurring log. I do humbly apologize for the lack of words, yet, it was not for naught. Thankfully this momentary absence was an eventful one, in which I have tried to summarize here. I may or may not go into more depth as well as include a wide amount of events that took place that are not included in this report.
That being said, I am available to haul almost anywhere in New Eden, select spots in Null Security space when required. |

Best regards, Farel.
'Culture Recess', as it is mockingly known to the local Minmatar, is definitely worth a visit. Its derelict ruin stands as a reminder of the collaboration between the Nefantar and the Amarrian Empire.
There are many historical sites in the Ani constellation worth seeing. Any capsuleer with the appropriate standings can talk with the local COSMOS agents who will send you to the monuments and archeological sites.
The wreck of the huge Amarr battleship Reclamation in Traun is one of my favourites and brings a tear to my eye every time I see it. Testament to the success of the Minmatar Rebellion, it is a reminder of what just one individual can achieve against tyranny. Any tourist (Amarrian or otherwise) would be suitably humbled by such a site. |

Because of the symbol ?
Ah, this is just a wreck like millions of other wrecks to me, unlike the Cultural Center which is quite unique, and much more humbling to my eyes for what it stands : the opposite of the former.
Whatever. |
