Most people with bounties you would want to collect to make the security hit worth it will be flying battleships or assault ships. Good luck.

Youll need a battleship for one. And enough PVP skills to take on several pirates, since pirates rarely play solo (The ones with high bounties anyway). And since youll need to be declearing war on their corporation in order to be able to shoot them without losing security status youll also need to be able to take on multiple pirates.
Imo bounty hunting in eve is fairly pointless, no real money to be made and near impossible. ---------------------------

You cant kill gankageddons at 100km range with a ceptor either
Hell you cant really bounty hunt alone, which makes stuff like mission running far more profitable. ---------------------------

If you are going to pod in a BS using sensor boosters, you might as well self destruct as soon as you get out of the hangar.
You will have to fit for gank setups, which will mean that you will lose your ship as soon as anyone fires on you with a civilian gatling gun and some tank behind it.
Honestly, I dont think that bounty hunting is a viable career choice. There are not enough targets out there, and further more, not enough targets that you can take down solo. Once you have a fleet roaming, the bounty payout is not nearly large enough to make a difference for your squad of even 3 people.
Get some miner II, go mining for some cash for a while, then get into a BS and go look for pvp in 0.0 zones. After that train up for assault ships and use those in small fleets.

TBH i have to agree with siim there.
go pirate instead of bountyhunter you will end that way anyways.
look at celestial apocalypse they started with the rumour as antipirates all they do now is pirate but pay for concord to accept it.
look at viceroy wich was one of possibly most succesfull bounty hunters in eve : pirating today.
save yourself the time and give us true antipirates something to shoot at instead (beleive me we need targets atm)

You must be a noob. Battleships with the correct setup can kill pods with ease. _____________

sounds like the game dev team need to make bounty hunting much more attractive in terms of features etc. How about NPC ships having bounties placed on them by the dev team or at random and having them move around the galaxy and then it being publisiesed (as a event) or a mission anyone above a certain level can take - first one to kill the ship (and it would have to be very hard to find ie perhaps even with agents etc) could have a 500m or 1B credit placed upon it ?
5000 systems would perhaps take a few weeks for someone to find and shoot up.
