scanner boost: for a second, I was also thinking d-scan. Then the 10 second thing hit and I was like, wait, what? So ratters can find anoms from further away. Hoo-ray. Involuntary PvPers can now find your sanctum from farther than your dscan range. With the recent change to anoms, you can bet there will be folks in those anoms. Let thee griefing ganking ensue! Curious as to what brought on this change.

agent divisions and skill changes to reflect: simple is better. Good job. But I am wondering at exactly how the reimbursement will occur. I understand about the skillbooks. With my old skills being removed, will I get the SP refunded like last time? Cause if so, I sense some abuse about to occur. Folks like myself that don't actively run missions anymore will likely sell the books and put the SP into something else.
More pirate plexes = goodies for nulsec PvEers.

What about that new Security agent division NOT offering Faction Standing hit related missions and leaving those to FW agents exclusively? Once you start tweaking things, do it all the way till the end...
BTW I don't like the new agent simplification, if I wanted simple games, I only have to go mmorpg.com and pick one. I've been playing EVE these years becouse it is complicated to a certain extent, you have to think your decisions or gather information before taking decisions more than other games, and that is good. Carefull.

Why? I used to use this information to find war targets location. One can find agents with good standings towards people and through this locate the system where they run missions.

For a newbie like me these changes are going to be pretty good.
so if its just going to be Security/Distribution/Mining
Is courier(distribution) still going to be my best bet to grind standing for refining?

I agree with this ^ . Some simplification may be OK but part of the challenge of EvE is its complexity. Dumb it down too much and it becomes your run of the mill MMORPG for those with short attention spans, therefore changing the population of Eve.

Honestly I feel like the mission system is by far the weakest part of eve (not in terms of functionality.. in terms of fun/enjoyment/understandability)
So great, hopefully the changes are good... Personally I would scrap the entire mission system and make player contracts into a more viable & varied & trollproof income-system.. rather than just buy/sell system. The real strength of Eve IMO is that things are made by the players, decided not by 'lets battle' but by 'i want ur resources' or 'ur in my system stealin my roids', etc.. It would be cool if they could somehow give rise to an emergent mission/contract system. (it vaguely does this now.. but lets face it - not well.)
Or hell, maybe make dynamic NPC corps - they control the rat factions, they trade / collect resources, they battle each other, etc.
Of course that will never happen, so heres hoping the changes work. Will be nice to get the connections SP back though, since I never play missions anymore! :)

For Incursion 1.5 please read fixing more game elements that are not broken.Please tattoo this on your hands and next time devote the update purely to parts of the game that need fixing such as Corp & POS Management, FW, etc etc. I didn't think you could make a bigger hash-up after what you did to Planetary Interaction but this takes the biscuit! I'd like to know who told you we wanted the Missions element of the game to be dumbed down?? It's like you want everyone to go straight to PvP and not play the PvE part of the game at all.I had someone try and fail miserably to suicide gank me yesterday. It was exciting in a 'face going red'sort of way but it's not why I play EVE. I enjoy the complex nature of the game and having to decide what to do next. I pray that you take notice of mine and others comments,take a deep breath,and decide to postpone Incursion 1.5 or at least the Connections & Mission Agents part of it.

Why and how would you know at a glance how another player's relationship with a npc corp is? It's not like they would put it into the phone book. Hiding this information makes perfect sense.

I filled bugreport few days before patchnotes, considering this can be a bug. Anyway cross-faction standings tab also missing. I don't know why this info was removed, because you should know how the completion of storyline mission will affect other faction standings.

I'm very concerned about this new Missionsystem. In the past it was necessary to move to another system if you'd reach the next level - away from your lv3 Q18 - to the next system with a lv4 Q -12 or somewhat. After that to a lv4 Q12 and at least find the system with your lv4 Q18-20. this was part of the game, and had some pretty influences to roleplay and gamedynamics...
Now it not necessary to move anymore. Okay, missionhubs like didoxie get nerfed now - but on the other hand you'd stolen a lot of the games dynamics now. You made the game again a bit smarter, easier to lern/play, but so you'd opened the door once again a bit more for this kind of gamer that wasn't simply surviveable in EVE five years ago - the wow-kids. I remember when I startet years ago - without German Client (yes I'm German), without Simplifying your EVE, there was no place for the 08/15-WOW-Kid - cause EVE was just too difficult, too technological, too serious and all in all to "adult".
Please CCP - don't make EVE to a "open for all" Game that even the dumbest kid could handle - cause there is the danger that you could loose some of the older ones that prefer a game without getting flamed by kids in the age of their own ones ;)
But beside this - thanks a lot for EVE. It's the worlds best game - and still the worlds best game-atmosphere. May it last forever! |
