I've seen on the forums that a rattlesnake in 0.5 might be considered worth attacking. Seriously, am I going to get targetted while I'm semi afk'ing level 4's?

Depends, if you decide to pimp it out then yes they will scan you down and blow you up.
But if you do an ordinary T2 fit chances are they won't try ganking you.
Well actually, suicide gankers only gank if the value of the loot is more valuable than the stuff they are loosing. So honestly there is no definite answer. You can decrease your chances by missioning in uncommon places and not pimping it out. But there is no guarantee, no matter what ship you are flying.

If its a passive rattle fitted right dont worry too much, if you was a ganker would you get a fleet of bs together to gank a bill isk fitted rattle or would you get a couple of cheap hurricanes and gank 1 of many tengus next to you for more return less risk?
A rs aint worth the bother or risk, unless its 2bill fit
pimp it!

If you ever tried to gank a passive tanked rattle snake, you will never try again.
As long as you plug the em hole, you are pretty much gank proof in highsec lv4 mission systems.

if the suicide gankers are doing it for profit there's generally bigger and easier fish to fry than a rattler. if they're doing it for the lulz.... then lol. From my experience you're more likely to get ninja salv/looters trying to get you to flag then a suicide gank squad

There is no way you are getting ganked in a decently fitted RS unless someone really really really hates you, or you have multiple billions in mods. Even then its a longshot. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

Hahaha, no. There are still people that will gank you for the fun of it, or if you dare them, or somehow ****ed them off.
The best way to avoid being ganked is not being worth the ISK that the gankers will spend to gank you.
A gankageddom will pack 7x 1400mm guns, a shot or two of faction / t2 ammo, sensor boosters and dps mods. It has somewhere around 9k alpha. Fully insured, loosing this ship will cost its owner about 50m ( Insurance value + mods )
Check how much EHP you have, check how many of these would take to one shot you. Do you carry enough faction mods to pay for at least twice the cost they will have to gank you? Twice because anything you carry has a 50% chance of getting destroyed when you get poped. If you do, then you can be considered a gank target. The more expensive the stuff you carry, the bigger a target you are.
A Tengu is always a good target because it has so few EHP. You can kill one with 3~4 hurricanes, costing you no more than 100m. A single Caldary Navy Invulnerability Field more than pays for the cost you have of poping the Tengu.

passive rattles will drop next to nothing valuable, compared to a active ship with a similar tank (1500 dps +)
for a bomb proof high sec mission runner, youd have to be very unlucky to die. I mean like taking full aggro from a HUGE blob of npcs and THEN somthing comes in to try and gank you, otherwise its a total waste of ganking time from a profit and gank alpha piont of view.
