Learn to decloak. Or you could join the big leagues and use bubbles in null sec. All you need to counter this is 1 guy in a dramiel with an IQ over 90. Hell even a nano fit interceptor should work.
LOL thread. CCP I suck at the game please make it easier cause I am really mad!
Also anything over 2400 scanres is overkill, at that point network lag makes it redundant.
Also in regards to Developer ignorance, have you ever met CCP Nozh?

Considering CCP fixed this feature when they accidentally broke it a few years ago, I'd say it's intended.
OP needs to learn how to de-cloak.

I hardly ever go into 0.0 space, and forgive me if i am wrong to this, but isn't this wrong?

As far as i know, this is not the way to do it. Actually, if you first hit the MWD you make your signature radious huge, thus making it easier for others to lock you, so by the time you hit Cloak you may already be locked.
The right way to do it, is FIRST hit cloak, then quickly hit MWD. I know it sounds strange, but it works. It produces that well known visual effect, that you see your target, try to lock it, try try try, nothing happens, and then the target just cloaks although you seemed to have more than enough time to lock it.
Not to mention that there are keyboards like the logitec g19, if i remember correctly, that can be programmed to move mouse cursor, allowing for a construction of a macro that quicky Aligns-Cloaks-MWDs with the hit of on macro-key.
I don't know if it is a bug, an exploit or anything else, (i don't use it anyway), but i think it should be fixed. Gives a huge advantage, especially to those that have programmable keyboards that can be programmed to move the mouse cursor.

So what are you proposing - that every ship in the game can be easily ganked at a gate?
Surely, that would then need a fix. Something like the ability to fit cloaks and mwd's, for example.

When a battleship gets by a interceptor remote boosted to 7000 scan resolation without a chance to even lock it, you know something is wrong.
CCP tried to fix this in spring 2009, ending in the hilarious insta warping motherships. Since then they left this unfixed.
When I explained this to the dev of the round table on low sec space at the fanfest, they didnt even know this was in their game. I am so tired of this I demand a fix from CCP, will keep this thread boosted untill it gets fixed.
I totally agree this is a bug, plain and simple. I tried to highlight this years ago but the noise from carebears drowned it out.
No battleship should be able to instawarp from a gang of 10 pirates, as has happened to me before. I've lost count of the ships we've lost due to this bug.
This is what has broken piracy!

Dear OP:
Firstly, your procedure, as posted, is fail. Secondly, your inability to counter it, is fail. Thirdly, your desire to gatecamp, is fail.
HINT: you see a battleship decloak/cloak in space. Where, exactly, do you think it's going in a hurry?
You are aware, right, that there is a 2000m decloak bubble around the battleship.
You are aware, right, that interceptors are pretty damn fast, and are, at most, 15km away?
Gosh darnit ... if only there was something in all that, which could come together to guarantee you decloaked and locked that ship every time.
New ITT: gatecamping is too easy, make cloaks impervious to interceptors approaching

I respect this concern, however surely you are faster than him in aligning & warping and assuming you match his route fine, you should have at least 19 clear opportunities to approach, mwd, proximity decloak him before he gets a chance to warp again.

People go on about fast locks and uber intys, but back when I could be bothered to care about the game, to prove the point I rolled my alt through the best low sec camps in the game (and 60 man faction warfare frigate fleets to boot) using a mega and a cloak mwd, never was caught.
An intended 2 slot module which makes one near invulnerable in low sec and provides cloaking and mwd capabilitys, in exchange for some small loss in locking time would never be implemented into the game. Anyone suggesting it would be laughed at.
But because its a unintended side effect of the cloak mwd, its alright then.. is it?
Anyway, to the OP I wouldnt waste your time getting het up its not worth it.

The MWD cloaktrick is fit onto ships who wish to avoid combat. The locktime on a battleship is so miserable its near useless .. and on many you're removing a highslot from an essential utility mod or weapon.
Basically, in your theoretical example, you're moaning that you can't use the worst ship possible, to catch a gimped ship that doesn't actually want to fight. +1 balls to you.
I don't know when and where you "sailed through lowsec impervious to the best gatecamps" but you're talking out of your ****ing ass.

1) Scan res drop on a cloak is 40%. Scan res increase on a t2 sensor booster is 60%. Fitting costs are negligable. The penalty for being able to whip past 99% of lowsec camps is.... a tiny drop in scan res :)
My point was that people say the cloak mwd is used for escaping the bully boy 10 man gang who want to gank you 10v1 when its equaly often used to avoid a 1v1.
People complain YOU USE TEN SHIPS TO GANK MY ONE without thinking WHY there are 10 ships on the gate.
* You need something with a quick point or else the target warps away.
* You need quick effective webs and a scram, or else the target gates back to gate.
* You need long range webs in case the target burns away from the gate and escapes.
* You need falcon support to stand a chance if hotdroped by 40 moms. (to get away that is)
* You need multiple BS for DPS and to tanke the unkillable, massive range, perfect tracking sentry guns.
* You need a couple of Smartbomb bs, to stand a chance of catching the stupider frigates.
* You need a gang booster to push tackle ranges up / pimp faction mods.
So youve got 400 million Skill points on the gate. 4 Bill in ships and fittings. 10 pilots all working in co-ordination (with associated logistical legwork). All to catch a 3 mill sp char in a 50 mill ship who drops 10 mill isk in loot. Lose on of your ships, and you need to kill 50 targets just to break even.
The irony is, the same people who claim cloak mwd is the only way to combat the bully boy gankers with the 10 man gang.... are the same ones advocating making that 10 man gang a 13 man gang by including a few intys to decloak the cloak mwders
Then of course, they will scream THIRTEEN vs 1 - YOU GANKERS ARE PATHETIC. ONE v ONE ME AND I WOULD KILL YOU.
Anyway, cloak mwd didnt kill piracy. Jump freighters, cov ops haulers, and jump portals killed piracy (as a profession that is)
