People seem to be continually crying about ôAFK cloakersö, so i have a suggestion that may solve this issue.
Cloak Frequency disrupter û This device emits a 14 AU pulse that disrupts the frequency of any active cloak in range. If the cloaked pilot does not compensate for the disruption within a specified time limit, his ship will decloak.
(The CFD would need a reactivation timer of a minute or two and it should require a massive amount of cpu for balance)
Discuss, naysay, whatever...

You misunderstand my littlie friend. I donÆt have a problem with the cloak mechanics but i am sick of the needles ôafk cloakersö threads. (I realise the irony)
If you spot a flaw behind the logic of my proposal please elaborate... but i doubt you will come up with anything legitimate.

The flaw in the logic of your proposal is that it fails to address an actual problem.

The issue is that AFK cloaking is not an issue, thus we don't need whatever it is you sperged about in your original post. --------------------------------------------- I am a big fan of knowing what you are talking about prior to making asinine suggestions or comments. |

Obviously it is an issue for some as there are multiple threads about the issue right now.
As no one can come up with a valid reason as to why this wouldn't be a sulotion to the issue that some people are having, I thank you for validating my idea

The problem is that the issue only stems from people that bot and participate in RMT. Regular players don't have an issue with AFK cloakers, because they are AFK. --------------------------------------------- I am a big fan of knowing what you are talking about prior to making asinine suggestions or comments. |

But they could become non-afk at any time. They might also be botters, or they might be pretending to be afk and are just waiting for the right moment to strike. ________________________________________________

This would mean that they actually aren't AFK, at which point EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE IDEAS makes it more difficult for them to do what they intended to do.

The issue is fairness. Is it fair that someone can leave an alt in a system to intentionally disrupt another person game play and disappear to run missions with their main, occasionally checking back with the afk cloaker to see if they can get an easy kill?

Just because people whine, doesn't mean there's a problem. It just means they don't like how things are because it inconveniences their personal desire to have a risk-free adventure shooting pixels and counting isk.
No problem means there is no solution.

This fairness issue is that it is fair. These people that are complaining can just as easily do the same thing to their enemies. In fact, most 0.0 has afk cloakers in the major systems at all hours of the day. You don't see these alliances complaining about it because it's a non-issue. --------------------------------------------- I am a big fan of knowing what you are talking about prior to making asinine suggestions or comments. |

My idea would not affect an active player, only the inactive.

Actually it would affect the active cloaker, because then they have to stop what they are doing in order to make sure they are safe, when they could be doing what they were intended to do.
Seriously, all of these afk cloaking threads only help botters. They don't help active players other than those who bot. --------------------------------------------- I am a big fan of knowing what you are talking about prior to making asinine suggestions or comments. |

So you think that the people that have a issue with this should buy another account so they can leave a character in a system 24/7?

Umm, most of the people complaining about this already have numerous accounts, seeing is they are all botters. Regular nullsec players already tend to have more than two accounts, so having a cloaky pilot in someone else's system is a non-issue.

ItÆs easy to say that these people are botters but at the end of the day you have no proof what type of player they are.

Do you honestly thing this is how eve should be played? Everyone with an alt created to grief other player? If so, yes you can has my stuff... I don't see how you can argue against botters if this is the way you think

Just contract it all to me. And yes, it is a valid game mechanic to help disrupt your opponent's ability to fight. Edited by: Rek Seven on 20/05/2011 15:51:14 Clearly we arenÆt going to agree. I believe that active people should be rewarded and inactive players should be at risk where as you seem to think that all players should have multiple accounts to play this game.
But whatever, i was only proposing what i thought was a fair compromise. If you prefer the idea of cloak fuel or a pos mod that will randomly decloak you, thatÆs fine... Because don't think for a second that a change isn't coming

Does this mean that every time this is fired off, the cloaked ship has to play some time of minigame? If so, that would be pretty cool. Something along the lines of Bejeweled Blitz from Facebook would be sweet.
