just a heads up: odds are your isk is going to be sent back to you+isk for the items(they were probbly sold to a 3rd party) you account may be temp baned for a bit while CCP investigates and tracks the money trail(from a buddy that got hacked it took like 3 days)

Sorry man, that sucks.
But be polite and patient, odds are you will get items back. Maybe suffer a little bit, 90% reimbursed couple days of training loss and game time.
You can get Microsoft Security Essentials for free if you have a legit version of windows, probably the best free antivirus as its good coverage and low cpu drain.
Check your browsing history, did you mistakenly log in to a www.eve-online.com site?
Crank up your fire wall, you can make any access request require your authentication. This works on some of the more sloppy loggers.

If you register on any 3rd party Eve related website (especially the naughty isk ones), even including i.e. corp / alliance forums etc best to not use the same user name and password that you use for logging into eve. Not using the same password as your E-Mail account is also elementary.

Hello Like shinythings,
I'm very sorry to hear your account was compromised. The best course of action in this situation is to file a petition (like you did); such cases are dealt with as soon as possible, and our GMs will do their best to return your ISK and items to you.
Best regards,

Edited by: Primera Dama on 21/05/2011 14:16:41 When you have petitioned CCP will ban your account for investigation. Keep in touch and be patient and friendly to the support. CCP will try to help but don't expect too much. You need to understand that compromised accounts is not their problem. But due to the huge amount of hacked accounts in the past CCP has to take care not to lose customers. Therefore CCP will help but due to logs, game mechanics and market rules they can't just give you back all your stuff.
I just can say from my experience: > you clicked on a link what installed a keylogger > once the keylogger is installed you definitely need to/should reinstall your system!!! > the hacker will do as fast as possible - transfer all your ISK to an alt/trial account - reprocess your items - repackage and sell your ships on the market
When the investigation is done > CCP will give you back the account after an identification process > don't use your old pwd anymore :-) > CCP will (probably) - in my case they did - give you back your stolen ISK - transfer the ISK result of reprocessing
In my case the investigation took 2 weeks. Expect 2-6 weeks. At this time I was in null-sec but had moved my main t2 stuff there. The hacker reprocessed items worth 5bil to 500m (!), repackaged and sold all my ships on the local market. When he tried to move to the next place he got killed and podded. Right after this my account was banned.
CCP gave me back > the transfered ISK > the ISK result of reprocessing
For the ship hulls and low-grade imps I had to file two more petitions. I just can recommend to talk polite and with patience. Keep in mind that CCP is not responsible for your fault. Escalate to a Senior GM and you will get probably a result you will be able to live with. But be aware that CCP can't 100% undo the hacker's activities. Be happy if you get back your account, you char and skills even if you lost months of work shooting, looting, selling and buying stuff. It's totally frustrating, I know. I was close to emoragequit the game but actually it's just bad memories and finally another story in EVE.

One less realized method for people accessing accounts is when you use the same username and password in multiple places.
For example, if you use the same username and password combo on EVE Online that you do on some other site (for example, a corporations private forum). If the other site has their database compromised, or the site is run by malicious users, they can potentially have the means to log into your EVE Online account.
As much of a headache as it can be, there are benefits to not using the same password for everything.

Thanx for regurgitating what I clearly said above.

I got hacked once, seems some people cant play fair and have to resort to cheating at internet spaceships to win, i got practically all my stuff back. well the isk value of it, hope you do to. at best it was a waste of ccps time.
id format the computer just to be on the safe side, and get some up to date good internet security and good passwords.

I has been hacked once in the past.
I got back: ISK transfered Rigs lost due to repackaging
By the end of it I was still down approx 2.2 billion as CCP refused to reimburse me the isk value lost from the hacker selling a lot of my assets at considerably low price intending to liquidate them quick.

Yeah CCP tends not to give you stuff back at anywhere near value. I have not been hacked myself but know a friend who has.

I'd recommend either AVG or Avira anti-virus, and Malwarebytes malware removal software. Both are free for home use.
