Many users of EVE run more then one account for theire needs. So many of us pay the double price or even more then similar MMOs cost.
Now, CCP wants to get MORE money out of us. The new QC already got a "Item Shop" Button where you can transform Plex in smaller credits.
What now ? If I got 2 accounts and want to use all EVE features, I have to pay quad ? Or shall we cancel all but 1 account to pay the same price ?
For now I think I should cancel my 3rd account, transfair the caracter and use the freed up money for new "features".
What do you think ?

Last time I checked, you can purchase PLEX with ISK. Are you saying that is no longer the case ? If you aren't saying that, what's your problem ? That you're not earning enough ISK and that you have to use cash to buy PLEX, as opposed to using ISK ? Well, boo-freaking-hoo, how about you learn to suck less at making ISK ? _

Simplest solution is unsubscribe.
CCP has quit Eve, no reason for us not to.

Do you know where a PLEX comes from ? If you want to use one, somebody have to buy one. Only because you can buy a PLEX from an other player doesn't mean nobody payed for it. WHO payed for it is only shifting the ÇÇÇ cost. Also if you don't get it, I try to discuss that you have to pay double for EVE now, even with one account.

Simplest, yes, but EVE is still one of the best games out, I would prefere a way that I still can play it, if it doesn't die soon.

The op is complaining about microtransactions. It is a new feature in the duality build where you can convert 1 PLEX to 100 "AUR" as the placeholder calls it. I guess things like clothes will be sold for x amount of AUR.

It is irrelevant WHO paid for it. It is only relevant what YOU paid for it. YOU have a choice between using in-game currency or real-life currency.
Since ISK is _not_ exchangeable into RL money (not without the high risk of banning anyway), that's even more relevant. Not to speak of the fact it is almost completely certain nothing you will purchase with PLEX would have more than a slight influence on your ability to play the game, if even that much. As long as that choice exists, nobody forces YOU to "pay double" or "quad" (who exactly forced you to get a 2nd account anyway?) or whatever. It merely lets you pick what you pay with for the vanity options, and you would only use RL cash if you are bad enough at making ISK that you would prefer to use RL cash instead, IF you would even want any of those vanity options at all in the first place.
If direct cash payments would be the only option, yes, you would have a point. But they're not, so you don't. _

First, thanks for a real answer, many here in the forum seem to stupid to think on their own.
Yes, I don't have to pay double for the items if I have the ISK [which I have btw], BUT someone has to pay with ÇÇÇ for it. What happens if less and less people create PLEX for the market? I've seen MMOs where it was impossible to buy "plex" with ingame money because noone was selling them anymore. As long as there are enought PLEX on the market you can think of them of a normal item you buy with ISK.
With this attitude I'm able to play that game. Thanks for the idea.

I'm sorry for you that you waste your time with thinking about the problem I stated. I must be really stupid if the solution is sooo obviouse that my post looks like a whine.

I must disagree.
It is fairly safe to assume PLEX for cash is purchased mainly by new users.
These users have very different demands of CCP.

With the amount of people moving from RMT to PLEX->ISK any source to spend PLEX on is a good one as it keeps the economy healthy.

HyperZerg has obviously forgotten the golden old days when we could purchase a 90 day GTC for 400M ISK, as opposed to the current price of almost 400M ISK for 30 days.
Complaining about a mere doubling in price? Feh!
Game time has tripled in price since 2008. Has the game died? Has the PLEX market dried up?

I respectfully disagree, any source to spend PLEX isn't good, some are going to be utter crap and some might be less crap. Also CCP said they are willing to manipulate the PLEX prices if/when they see a need to do so, that in of itself blows.

Edited by: Kengutsi Akira on 21/05/2011 11:50:04 What I meant by the STO comparison is if you look at the abortion star trek online has become (and really was at launch), Cryptic has figured out people are willing to pay a sub fee AND - yes, AND - buy all the new stuff put into the store by way of the C-Store (the real money cash shop). So Cryptic are getting the free to play model WITH subs.
Yea, their players are getting ripped off left and right. Add to that the "only things put in the store are cosmetic things" like ships and such it starts to sound familiar doesnt it? Its funny how people tend to go for the argument of "well its just cosmetic stuff". I was at the STO launch when all the hard core Cryptic suckups werescreaming that left and right. Its funny because yes, it was cosmetic at first. Then they figured out HOW gullible their player base really is.
Wonder if theyll go DDO style here and add XP boosters (IE make train time shorter) for the price of whatever PLEX turns into?
Yeah, my crystal ball sees CCP turning this game into a MT store in space, so Im ejecting now. GL ppl.

Again your "crystal ball" is a little slow since CCP has already TRIED to put plex for remap in and it was shot down fast.

CCP wants truckloads of new users either way, and I seriously doubt it's mainly new users that get PLEX for cash to sell for ISK. Besides, we have a PLEX build-up right now, and we've been having it for quite a while now - there are noticeably more PLEX being created than used up. CCP doesn't like PLEX stockpiles growing larger, because it's a financial liability in the books, they are looking for just about any possible way to encourage consumption, and extra accounts seems to not be the sufficient solution. _

Good morning, capsuleers.
Some of you have found the location where we will be building a kind of store. It's not built yet and there's nothing to test in this build, but we hope to have you testing this store on Duality in a couple of weeks.
When you see it, you will realize it is nothing like "paying quad" and that there is nothing there that affects your power in the game. And I am convinced that some of you who are the most disturbed by the concept of selling virtual items are going to look at them and say "I know it's kind of silly but it does fit into EVE Online, it should be pretty successful, and I personally want that."
I will come bump you guys when we get close to test time. We really want to hear your feedback once you've seen some of what we have.
Thanks and have a great weekend.

CCP can bring in truckloads of users when they create a game that supports a broad user base as opposed to an elitist frat boy club. While we like to think that eve online is for everyone it is not. The learning cliff is steep and the casual gamer will walk past the game however great the features may be if they feel like they can't even fart without help from corps and alliances. While it's romantic to think of eve as a sandbox game the sandbox is partitioned by bullies who don't want noobs playing in their sand.
